Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is doing his best to inflame tensions in the Middle East. We all knew that he was a lunatic, but the inflammatory rhetoric that is coming out of him now is the sort of thing that we would expect to hear from leaders of Hamas or Hezbollah. During a “fiery speech” on Wednesday, Erdogan accused Israel of being a “terror state”, and he boldly declared that Israel’s leaders must be held accountable as war criminals in international courts… Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan today said Israel was a ‘terror state’ committing war crimes and violating international law in Gaza, while repeating his view that Hamas gunmen are not terrorists but a ‘political party elected by Palestinians’. In a fiery speech to members of his party, Erdogan said Turkey would work to ensure that Israel’s political and military leaders are recognised as ‘terrorists’ and brought to trial in international courts. If all of that wasn’t bad enough, Erdogan also accused Israel of “threatening people with atomic bombs”… “They [Israel] have been speaking about murdering all those people using nuclear weapons, so let me call on Benjamin Netanyahu — do you have nuclear weapons or not? Explain this, if you have the courage.” “You are threatening people with atomic bombs, nuclear bombs. It does not matter what you have, you are a goner,” he said. When Erdogan said “you are a goner”, was he referring to Netanyahu or the nation of Israel as a whole? Someone really needs to ask him that question. I think that Erdogan is tempted to intervene directly in this war, but Turkey’s membership in NATO will hopefully prevent him from doing that. Of course Erdogan is right about one thing. Israel does possess nuclear weapons, and if the Israelis get pushed into a corner they will use them. So let us hope that this war does not spiral out of control. Unfortunately, there have been more clashes along the northern front. On Tuesday, the IDF hit a number of Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon… The IDF said it struck terrorist infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah in Lebanon and a terrorist cell which attempted to fire anti-tank missiles at Israel on Tuesday afternoon. The IDF added that terrorists fired anti-tank missiles and mortars toward IDF posts near Margaliot, Arab al-Aramshe, Yiftah, Shomera, and Matat on Tuesday. These IDF strikes were in response to “multiple attacks” by Hezbollah… Within 48 hours, Hezbollah forces launched multiple attacks against Israeli targets in the areas of Al-Malikiah, ‘Barkat Risha, Duviv, Yiftah Qadesh and Ramot Naftali. According to information and videos, Hezbollah forces hit IDF positions and forces with Russian-made anti-tank systems 9M133-1 Kornet-E, 9M113 ‘Konkurs’, 9M131M “Metis-M1”, with Iranian ATGMs “Dehlavieh” and “Toophan” ( reverse-engineered BGM-71 TOW) and Chinese 107mm Type 63-2 Fadjr-1, 122mm 9M22U/Arash and 333mm ‘Falagh-2 high-explosive rockets. There are fears that Hezbollah has also acquired the EM version of the Kornet which doubles the range to 8-10 km as a video shows a 1PN79M-3 thermal targeting system. Additionally in another video, Hezbollah forces have been equipped with 9K32(M) Strela-2(M) MANPADS, RPO-A Shmel portable thermobaric missiles and Chinese W85 machine guns. Hezbollah and other Iranian-backed terror groups are extremely angry about what is going on in Gaza. The IDF is absolutely crushing Hamas, and at this point “a number of Hamas governmental sites in the heart of Gaza City” have been captured… The IDF on Tuesday announced that it had captured a number of Hamas governmental sites in the heart of Gaza City as its troops engaged in fierce battles with Hamas gunmen in the city, while continuing to enable humanitarian corridors to allow for civilians to evacuate to the southern part of the Strip. Meanwhile, the IDF has been storming the largest hospital in Gaza, and Israeli forces have recovered a large number of weapons that Hamas had stored there… The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released video early Wednesday showing weapons found inside the al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. “IDF troops are continuing the precise and targeted operation against Hamas in the Shifa Hospital complex, in which the troops are conducting searches for Hamas terrorist infrastructure and assets,” the IDF said in a statement. “As the soldiers entered the hospital complex, they engaged with a number of terrorists and killed them,” the statement added. “Following this, during searches in one of the departments of the hospital, the troops located a room with technological assets, along with military and combat equipment used by the Hamas terrorist organization.” No matter what Erdogan might say, nothing can change the fact that Hamas is a terrorist organization. They kill children, rape women and kidnap the elderly. But right now we are seeing a tremendous outpouring of support for Hamas all over the world, and that even includes institutions of higher learning in the United States such as Harvard. But if it looks like Hamas is on the verge of being totally defeated, that makes it much more likely that Hezbollah will decide that all-out war is necessary. And needless to say, that would truly be a nightmare scenario. None of us should want to see death and destruction on a massive scale. But death and destruction on a massive scale is coming anyway. What we have witnessed so far is just the beginning. Much worse is coming. The ignition point of these things God says people won’t repent of, seems to me, is wrapped up in the word “sorceries.” The word “sorcery” is translated from the Greek pharmakeia (Strong’s G5331, KJV). The definition includes, as part of its scope of evil, the matter of witchcraft. It is used in God’s prophetic Word as reason for destruction of that city of global influence—the city and the worldwide system called “Babylon the Great”: And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. (Revelation 18:23) The most profound evil of this great city and its global influence is found in the condemnation: “for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.” Can we agree that deception permeates every aspect of our society and culture today here in America? And can we agree that the fact that we derive the word for “drugs” from pharmakeia lends credence to the charge that this nation is at the center of the stage being set for the Tribulation to come? Our borders have been leveraged fully open at our southern most parts. The drugs are pouring through the openings by carriers, many of whom are drug cartel members involved in human trafficking and even trafficking of children for sexual wickedness. Our nation, through an explosive illegal drug eruption, is deceiving the world with its transport capability to infuse many people with mind-altering drugs. Through America’s “sorceries,” “all nations [are] deceived.” One writer of interest observed: We are not now in the 7-year Tribulation Period. But again, many present-day developments are already setting the stage for Daniel’s 70th week. Cartoons, TV shows, movies, and books (ex: Harry Potter) are laying the foundation for a world deceived by the occult. Cannabis, ketamine, speed and other so-called “soft drugs” are becoming mainstream. The world is being conditioned to accept that which the Lord clearly forbids. When the girl’s father, Eric Sack, discovered the baggy of pills over the weekend, his daughter told him that it was provided to her by the Bulldog Health Center, a School Based Health Center (SBHC) at Lawrence High School. Sack saw the pills as an infringement on his parental rights, but he was also concerned that the school’s clinic sent unlabeled drugs with no child-resistant container into his home, where his two other younger children also live… Sack pulled his daughter out of the public school this week to make her appointments with a doctor and a therapist. “I’m looking out for the best interests of my daughter. That’s why I pulled her out of school,” said Sack. “Because I don’t think she really ought to be there if they’re going to start giving her pills, you know? Until I sit down with a doctor that I pick for my daughter, not through the school.”… On Thursday, an agent from Child Protective Services (CPS) called Sack and informed him that he would be arriving shortly to make a surprise visit to his home to conduct a child welfare investigation… “They called and said it was an emergency situation at my house, that I was pretty near holding my daughter hostage, is what the gentleman that came yesterday told me,” Sack said. “He had information that only the school and Bulldog Health Center had,” he said. For three hours, CPS Agent Dylan Wood grilled Sack and his family individually and as a group, including asking questions about Sack’s firearms and where he keeps them. (“Maine Dad Says High School Clinic Sent 17-Year-Old Daughter Home with Secret Baggy of Zoloft, Sicced Child Protective Services on Him for Complaining,” Steve Robinson, The Maine Wire, RR News, September 28, 2023) The above deception by secretly sending this girl home with drugs is bad enough, but stories abound of fentanyl being made available in various forms, and that is the even deadlier form of evil being perpetrated by the drug lords. Thousands of young people and children are dying so the wicked merchants of earth can make their millions and even billions of dollars. How would you begin to describe jet aircraft, space vehicles, or computers to someone in that era? How could you explain television, telephones, or the vast array of gizmos that run on electricity? Then, consider how a person from the early 1700s would describe all those miraculous technological developments if they were given the foresight to witness them personally. Now we realize the challenge Daniel and the other prophets faced when told to record their prophetic visions of the future. Words often cannot communicate concepts that exceed finite human understanding or even imagination. The American astronauts who landed on the Moon recognized the limits of their ability to express the beauty of what they saw. Several remarked that although they were extensively trained in science and engineering, a writer, poet, or artist might have better communicated the wonder they saw with their own eyes. I do not take away from the adequacy of God’s Word as recorded by the various prophets and writers He commissioned. But until hindsight offers us complete clarity, “we see through a glass, darkly” (1 Corinthians 13:12). So, some of our speculation regarding the specifics of wheeled vehicles (Ezekiel 2), the sky rolling up like a scroll (Revelation 6), and demonic locust hordes (Revelation 9), is just that: speculative. Still, there are clear indications that technological advances are allowing many prophetic pieces to fall into place right before our eyes. For example, consider the nuclear weapons capable of inflicting cataclysmic destruction in an instant. We know that when a thermonuclear weapon is detonated, “the powers of the heavens are shaken” (Luke 21:26) and the sky seems to “split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up” (Revelation 6:14). Certainly, the radioactivity that is unleashed leaves survivors covered with loathsome sores (Revelation 16:11). Since the 1950s, mankind has dreaded the possibility of nuclear annihilation. Am I adamant that what Jesus and John were describing is a nuclear blast? No. But does that technological “advance” in weaponry allow for the descriptions they prophetically foretold? Absolutely. Making the Impossible Attainable Until 70 years ago, anyone who read Revelation 11 had to wonder how the entire world will one day look upon the bodies of the two witnesses lying in the streets of Jerusalem. Will God provide supernatural vision? Will people they see in their mind’s eye instead of literally? But today, through television and satellite technology, this incredible ability has become a commonplace reality. Throughout history, dictators and despots have aspired to exert autocratic control over their subjects. Such domination was unwieldy, even with extensive bureaucratic systems of spies and informants. The Nazis, the Soviets, and some Third World tyrants went to great lengths, but could never craft an ironclad surveillance state… until now. Modern technology provides every tool necessary to monitor, control, and enslave entire populations. The Bible speaks of the Antichrist’s global government mandating a personal mark — giving it absolute control over buying and selling. The world is already marching eagerly toward electronic identification and digital currency — embracing the technology the Antichrist will utilize to achieve the dominance Scripture warns about. The Antichrist will wield unprecedented power over commerce, employ proactive population control measures, and utilize raw military force to coerce the world into submission. The infrastructure necessary to control masses of people is already being perfected in places like China and North Korea. These evil empires have employed video surveillance, massive data storage, and artificial intelligence to evaluate their citizen’s “loyalty” to the state. And the rise in technological threats is not limited to Third World countries. London, England, has that highest number of public video cameras per capita. The United States has invested untold billions in secret data collection and storage facilities. Most Americans would be surprised to learn that the NSA (National Security Agency) is the leading employer for America’s best mathematicians. Certainly, surveillance state methodologies are not limited to despotic regimes. It is difficult to grasp how rapidly this particular technology is advancing. Most people have smartphones, with camera and storage capabilities that spy agencies developed at exorbitant cost just a few decades ago. And these exponential technological advances are about to become even more pronounced with the introduction of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. The Digital Age on Steroids Just 40 years ago, computers were still relatively rudimentary. The Apollo program that took men to the moon was equipped with computers literally programmed by hand-woven wiring — and far less capable than video gaming consoles today. Data was stored on magnetic tape. While these devices have been dramatically decreased in size and energy use (a key consideration), they have grown tremendously in capability. Quantum computing offers the potential to shrink the size of data storage and multiply computing power by many orders of magnitude, unlocking the elusive possibility of artificial intelligence — a machine that thinks, learns, and formulates new ideas. That capability has already been demonstrated in surprising ways. The software that manages Target stores’ online and app sales famously began to predict when female shoppers were pregnant, based entirely on their spending habits. This startling discovery offer occurred weeks before the expectant mothers even knew they were pregnant! Discerning patterns out of mind-numbing streams of data, Target’s computers then followed their own algorithms to offer baby items to the unwitting mothers-to-be. As you can imagine, military and intelligence services were among the first institutions to recognize both the potential and the threat of such technology. But ensuring control over such power is the quandary that causes industry experts to advise extreme caution. In 2023, an Air Force simulation utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) discovered that the system charged with attacking an imaginary enemy instead turned its weapons against programmers and their communications infrastructure when it discerned that they were impeding it from completing its assigned mission. Did You Give God an IOU? - Nathele Graham - [email protected] “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” John 19:30. You know what an IOU is, right? It’s a promise you make when someone has done something for you, and you can’t repay them for the kindness right then. You give an IOU meaning that you appreciate what they did for you and at some future time you will repay what is owed. Depending upon how much integrity you have, you will repay your debt as soon as possible, or you will ignore the obligation entirely. When you came to Christ, like every Christian who ever has lived, you understood that Christ paid a debt for you that you could never pay for yourself. He paid for your redemption from sin, and gave you eternal life. Unless you really understand the debt He paid, you can never be grateful enough. God created all things, but these days there is a very satanic push to question God’s truth. It’s really a no brainer. If you think evolution is true, you believe that nothing exploded and created everything. Maybe you think a vacationing group of aliens stopped on earth to have a picnic and we evolved from the crumbs they left. Really? It’s amazing what can be imagined when people try to deny God. You might ask “Where did God come from?”. That’s a good question, but you have to realize that God exists outside of time. When Moses saw the burning bush, he went to explore and a voice from the bush gave him directions to approach Pharoh and ask him to set the Israelites free from slavery. Moses asked what to say if asked who sent him on this mission. “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” Exodus 3:14. That seems a little confusing, but the truth is that God is eternal. He always was and will always be. He created heaven and earth, filled it with marvelous animals and plants. He created man and put him in a garden which provided for all his needs. God was pleased with His creation and he cared for it. It was a perfect existence. There was a danger there, though. That danger was for Adam to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If he ate that fruit, he would die. To protect Him, God gave Adam the command to not eat that fruit. Just one command. He had plenty of food from all the other trees, so there was no need for disobedience. Then Adam realized all of the animals had a partner and asked God for a helpmate. God gave him Eve. How long did this life of contentment and perfection go on? Scripture doesn’t tell us, but things did go wrong. Eve chose to listen to the voice of deception and Adam chose to listen to Eve. It turns out that God was correct and they lost their place in Paradise. The serpent spoke words from Satan and convinced Eve that God was a liar and that she should eat the forbidden fruit. He focused on the one thing that God said not to do, and made it look very tempting. Eve was deceived. When Adam saw that Eve had made a choice to defy God, he made his own choice. He joined Eve in death. They didn’t fall down dead right then and there, but their immortal bodies were now mortal. They could no longer live in the Garden. Adam’s sin has been passed down through the ages from one generation to the next. That sin has caused evil, death, and grief to be a part of life ever since. Sadly, when something bad happens to us, quite often we blame God. We ask why God allows death, illness, and other bad things to happen. Blame Satan, not God. That sin separated humans from God. Sin will always be a debt that we have no ability to pay, but through the ages, God has opened the way for people to be reconciled to Him. God exists outside of time, and to human perception, it took ages for His plan of redemption to be fulfilled. Throughout time, Satan has been hard at work to continually deceive people into sin. The same lies he used with Eve he uses on people today. He had lied to Eve about the forbidden fruit; He twisted God’s words. God had told Adam that if he ate the fruit he would die. “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5. What about today? Do you think that God is the one trying to ruin your life by telling you not to sin? Do you listen to satanic lies of the world and embrace sin? Disease riddles your body because you yield to the temptation of sexual impurity? Your liver is filled with disease because you choose to be a drunkard? The mind-altering drugs you take into your body have caused you to be demon possessed. Still, you blame God for allowing your choice to sin to cause you trouble. That’s what sin does. “The wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23a. The death caused by our choices to live in opposition to God’s truth will bring physical death. The liver disease caused by alcoholism will cause your body to give out. The AIDS caused by homosexual activity will destroy your body and take your life. When you embrace sin, there are consequences. We can’t blame God for the choices we make. The sin of rejecting the forgiveness that comes from Christ will bring eternal death, but that’s a choice you make. Jesus paid our sin-debt. We owe Him more than an IOU. God has never turned His back on His creation. First, He chose Abraham to be the father of the nation of Israel. It was through Abraham’s seed that the greatest blessing has come to all people. Abraham was told to leave the idol worship behind and leave his pagan family and go to a land that God would show him. “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:” Genesis 12:1. Abram, whom God renamed Abraham, had to leave the temptation of idol worship behind and move away from the people who would draw him back to sin in that pagan culture. God hadn’t stopped loving humanity, and he was putting His plan into motion. Abraham would be the father of a great nation through his son Isaac. God showed Abraham the land that would be his, and his generations to come, forever. “And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD who appeared unto him.” Genesis 12:7. This land still belongs to Abraham’s descendants to this day. There are many disputes over it, but God will never revoke the ownership of Israel. The voice of Satan is being followed by people today who are trying to destroy Israel, and Israel is hated among many nations. Any Christian who is against Israel doesn’t understand Scripture. Bible prophecy tells us that the nation of Israel won’t be destroyed or removed from their God-given land. God’s plan of redemption would take years to complete. First the Law was given. This was a visual aid to understand how much God hates sin, but loves people. There were animal sacrifices put in place that would cover sin. They couldn’t take sin away, but for a moment the sin was covered. Never, ever was human sacrifice acceptable. Only the shedding of animal blood was a way to cover the sins of people. “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.” Hebrews 10:4. Animal blood was only a temporary covering. God’s plan was for a perfect sacrifice, once for all. That sacrifice would come through the shed blood of God Himself. Many Bible prophecies told of God being born in Bethlehem, and becoming the perfect sacrifice to take our sin away. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17. Faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ will save you from eternal death, not works of any kind. He paid the debt of sin that Adam incurred. That brings me to my question “Did you give God an IOU?”. We’ve seen that sin entered because of Adam’s choice to sin, and that God still loved him. We’ve seen that the Law of Moses was a way of teaching about sin and that shedding animal blood covered it. Animal blood cannot take sin away, but only the pure blood of God can take away sin. “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all:” Hebrews 10:10. Jesus was the perfect Kinsman Redeemer. His mother was human. Mary was a willing servant of God but nothing more than human. In that way, Jesus was a Kinsman of humans. Human blood is tainted by sin passed down through Adam. That’s why human blood can never be shed to take away sin. That would be like using a dirty, greasy cloth to clean up a grease spill. It just wouldn’t work. Jesus was conceived by God the Holy Spirit, so there was no sin in His blood; He was fully God and fully human. In the letter to the Romans, Paul wrote that the wages of sin is death, but there is more to that verse. “… but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23b. If someone gives you a gift but you choose to reject it, that gift does you no good. God has given you a gift, so don’t reject it. Accept Christ’s sacrifice to bring you eternal life. When you realized that you are a sinner and need Jesus for salvation, did you give God an IOU. Did you accept His payment, but decided to pay Him back sometime in the future? Forgiveness of sin should be a life-changing experience. The sin you thought brought you pleasure, should no longer be embraced. Jesus died for you, and He paid your sin-debt. Jesus paid a huge price for you. Have you accepted His free gift of salvation, but choose to hold on to your sin? That’s giving him an IOU. You want the benefit of God’s grace while you continue sinning. Do you intend to eventually stop lying, gossiping and living in open opposition to His word? Will you someday stop having one-night stands? Now is the time to turn away from the sin that brought the wages of death and turn to Christ who gives the gift of eternal life. If you care at all about Scripture, you just might look at prophecy and see that we are rapidly coming to the end of chances to repay the IOU. Time is running out. The final seven years of life as we know it is about to be a reality. That reality will only be faced by people who have rejected Christ for salvation. If you’ve decided to live life by the ways of the world, then you need to accept Christ now. Let Him change you from a sinner bound for Hell, to a sinner saved by grace. If you claim to have accepted His gift, but have given Him an IOU instead of changing your life, it’s time to repay Him in the only way you can. That’s by living your life to honor Him. Daily Jot: Hamas’ most effective propaganda arm: The media - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Associated Press (AP) was among the first to report that Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken wants Israel to halt military operations against Hamas because “Far too many Palestinians have been killed.” AP was also among the first to send pictures of the Hamas-conducted holocaust against Israeli Jews on October 7. AP keeps repeating Hamas Health Ministry estimates that over 11,000 people in Gaza have been killed while over 1400 Israelis were killed on October 7, “mainly in the initial Hamas attack.” AP didn’t reveal that its reporters were with Hamas in that attack, nor does it report that the Health Ministry is a propaganda arm of Hamas. And its comparison of death tolls is not subtle. But it is outrageous. Here’s why. Honest Reporting, a media watchdog, blew the whistle on AP and Reuters for having embedded journalists with Hamas on October 7. Honest Reporting said, “On October 7, Hamas terrorists were not the only ones who documented the war crimes they had committed during their deadly rampage across southern Israel. Some of their atrocities were captured by Gaza-based photojournalists working for the Associated Press and Reuters news agencies whose early morning presence at the breached border area raises serious ethical questions.” It sure does as these so-called “journalists” were in plain clothes without outward press identification. They had to know in advance, but didn’t warn authorities of the attack. This means that these news organizations could well have supported, aided and abetted the atrocities of October 7. But it is much deeper. It’s long been the terrorists’ strategy to interweave their operations among civilian organizations and the news media so that when retaliation for their attacks commences, innocents are harmed or killed. Then, instead of terrorists being blamed, there is international outrage about how the poor “Palestinians” are being murdered by evil Israelis. The evil actions of the terrorists are then essentially justified. The media is complicit. On May 12, 2021, Israel flattened the building that housed AP, al Jazeera and other news reporting organizations in Gaza. On cue, the media started shaping the narrative that the terrible Israelis bombed the building causing journalists to run for their lives. AP’s story claimed total innocence of any knowledge that the building was used as a headquarters for Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Journalists covering these terrorists cannot reasonably claim they didn’t know the terrorists plans—they are headquartered in the same building! That the media were sharing quarters with Hamas explains the anti-Israel news bias emanating from these news outlets. These terrorists are evil. They use children, women, journalists, whoever, to hide behind while they do their evil deeds. And when someone gets hurt, there is an international outcry while the terrorists get little criticism from the media. And when the media are caught, they say, “I didn’t know that.” Yes, they did. There is blood on their hands. These media should be blackballed and their credentials revoked. He was a Hebrew who was raised in the house of Pharaoh, groomed to become the next leader of Egypt. Yet Moses was concerned for his fellow Hebrews and the plight they faced. And one day on an impulse, he decided to take matters into his own hands. He looked to the right and to the left, and then he killed an Egyptian. When word reached Pharaoh, he put a contract out on Moses’ life. So, Moses fled for his life into the wilderness. He settled down there and tended sheep until the Lord recommissioned him forty years later. God told Moses he was to go back to Egypt to the court of Pharaoh and demand the release of his people. Understandably, Moses was reluctant. He offered some flimsy excuses as to why he wasn’t qualified, which the Lord refuted. God even performed some miracles to convince Moses of the authenticity of his calling. And ultimately, Moses and his brother, Aaron, went to do what God had called them to do. Moses and Aaron went into Pharaoh’s court and demanded the release of the Hebrews. They probably were hoping he would say, “No problem! God has been speaking to me about that. God bless you.” But that isn’t quite how it went. Pharaoh basically said, “Are you kidding? There’s no way that is going to happen.” This reminds us that being in the will of God doesn’t mean that it always will be green lights, blue skies, and singing birds. Sometimes we think that if God wants us to do something, it will be an easy thing to do. It will happen, but it will be in His timing. And the devil will oppose us. We also find an important statement in Exodus 7. God said to Moses and Aaron, “But I will make Pharaoh’s heart stubborn so I can multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt” (verse 3 NLT). Why did God harden Pharaoh’s heart? Some would think that Pharaoh had nothing to say about this, that he was simply a chess piece on the board of life. But that isn’t true. Pharaoh had a choice in the matter. He hardened his heart, and the Lord confirmed the decision he had already made. Pharaoh hardened his heart further, the Bible tells us, when his magicians counterfeited the signs. Then he hardened his heart even more when his magicians could not counterfeit the signs. The Lord had given Pharaoh more than enough evidence to convince him that the gods of Egypt were false and the God of Israel was the true and living God. He was giving Pharaoh the opportunity to cooperate. But Pharaoh would have none of it. This reminds us that to turn from the truth is to become more thoroughly entrenched in darkness. If you have heard the truth, know what is right, and don’t respond, then you are in danger of getting a hardened heart.
