As each year winds down, I like to review and see how Bible prophecy was fulfilled, or has elements of fulfillment, throughout the year. I always have too many options to choose from—and maybe that is a nice dilemma. We’re in a countdown to the close of the Church Age. Here are my top ten selections for this year. Many selections have ties to “black Sabbath”—October 7: 1) The world decided that Israel became the international burdensome stone (Zech. 12:3). Whoever expected this new malady, Israel Derangement Syndrome, in their lifetime? We know that “the Time of Jacob’s Trouble” will be a time of Jew-hatred, but in the Church Age? And this is a hatred of a people based only on identity. A people group that has been a blessing to the world! 2) Israel now longs for peace like never before. She will fall for Mr. Fix-Its peace plan of Daniel 9:27. She just wants to get along with her neighbors, the Arab world, the Muslim world, and all her enemies. She has had 75 years of conflict, preceded by the Holocaust. But with centuries of demonic hatred thrown at her, the Antichrist will be stunning in his deceit of a nation longing for peace and security. He will overwhelm them in his efforts. 3) For a segment of society, love has grown cold. This is a Tribulation reference in Matthew 24, but we’re in a run-up to that. We’re watching large segments of society favor barbarians. Millions have sided with the butchers of Hamas! There are Facebook groups praising Hamas. College campuses know no shame. Jewish students are hiding in secluded areas. And much of the world, and parts of the church, shrug in indifference and seem to enjoy cursing Israel. 4) Gog & Magog further align as they unite against Israel. One periodical reports that “Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan wants to lead the Muslim world against Israel so his country can become a great power.” Russia has pledged to come to Iran’s rescue if Israel attacks. The three power players of Ezekiel 38-39 are Russia, Turkey, and Iran. They are aligning more every day and particularly in 2023. 5) The church is slipping further into apostasy. Many churches revealed theology that has encouraged them to remain silent during Israel’s greatest crisis since the Holocaust. Many openly sided with the so-called Palestinians. The silence of the shepherds has been staggering and devastating to many church members. Too many won’t deal with prophecy, current events, or Israel and won’t take a stand. It’s time to call out evil and to love what and who God loves. Too many churches refuse and this year exposed them. 6) The Jews are coming home in greater numbers and are more open to the gospel. Since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, there has been a 149% increase in interest to return to Israel from Jewish French citizens and an 81% increase from North American Jews. The trauma of October 7 will leave deep scars on the nation and people forever. The crisis is driving the Jews to seek God like never before in history. Many are leaving secularism, mysticism, and more to call out to the God of the Bible. 7) Strong delusion (II Thess. 2) intensifies and abounds! The Biden Administration continues to give Iran billions. The White House expresses deep concern about Islamophobia, not anti-Semitism! Biden gives hundreds of thousands of dollars to mosques. We have seen young people praise Osama bin Laden in spite of the reality of radical Islam. The solution in the Middle East is a Palestinian state! Everywhere, evil is called good (Is. 5:20) and facts are irrelevant due to the delusions of our day. Only the righteous can see straight! 8) The intensified longing for a world leader as American leadership is weak and non-existent in the Executive Branch. Soon, world leaders will line up in Pied Piper-like fashion, behind a man-with-a-plan, who will guarantee peace and stability. He will exude global leadership. The world is ready due to America’s absence. 9) The intensification of perilous times (II Tim. 3), violence, and spirit of the Antichrist. We are warned of October 7 “copycat attacks” around the world! America’s southern border invites chaos. Rogue nations are threatening with nukes. World war seems inevitable. And the Tribulation has not even begun! 10) There is an explosion of global reprobate minds (Romans 1). Things have taken a dark turn unlike anything seen in modern times. The world has become unhinged on a greater level than WWII. People clearly have been “given over.” Up is down; black is white. Men can be women and vice versa. Israel is apartheid; Hamas are freedom fighters. Normal or Godly thinking does not come to these conclusions! I could list 110 markers that reveal the hour is desperately late! You can’t tell the players without a printed program, and that would be the Bible—the most accurate chronicler of world events we could have ever been given! Jesus is coming—perhaps today! Developments are leaping to the forefront at this late hour of the age leading to the Second Advent of Jesus Christ—developments that are mind-boggling. Yet vast numbers of people, particularly in America, seem oblivious to the absolute madness of the building rage of hatred toward the Jewish race. The insane rants of college students are mind-boggling to my generation, but regarding much of the rest of the nation, the call for genocide—and that’s what it is, make no mistake—isn’t registering. At least, major nationwide disgust over the atrocities perpetrated isn’t being reported by mainstream media. And mainstream media is at the sin-darkened heart of the dementia. That is, mainstream media —news and entertainment as well as left-wing blogosphere forums—have so hidden truth about the Israel/Hamas conflict as to cerebrally and spiritually incapacitate much of the American populace. Particularly, the college-age population has largely been either inculcated to view Jews as evil or dumbed down through such media truth-blocking. For example, they are falsely reporting that the Hamas attack on October 7 was not genocidal hatred being carried out by insanely evil terrorists, but is an understandably passionate and legitimate movement designed to fight against Jewish occupiers of Palestinian land “from the river to the sea.” Thus we have the cerebral and spiritual dementia—the forgetfulness of which George Santayana wrote—apparently infecting the entire country and much of the rest of the world as well. We therefore can now understand the Truth of God’s Word and the words of His prophet Zechariah, who said Jerusalem and Israel will become a “burdensome stone and cup of trembling” to the whole world. While listening to a program early one recent morning, I heard the words of a British soldier in a documentary of several decades ago. He was speaking to the interviewer, telling of his being part of the D-Day invasion to destroy Hitler’s Nazi regime and end war in Europe. He said he had, during many battles during World War II, seen many, many horrendous scenes—literally, blood and bodies torn asunder. Before that, he worked in hospital settings in England. He had seen terrible human carnage of every description. So he wasn’t squeamish, but battle-hardened. But when his British Army group reached the Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp, he and every battle-hardened veteran became physically sick. They all became totally silent as they observed the walking skeletons—skin barely draped over walking, corpse-like victims of the Nazi Holocaust. It was, he said, something he wished every person of every generation could see so they would believe it happened and would therefore stop such inhumanity to their fellow humans whenever it again raised its ugly head. Well, it is raising its ugly, satanic head again. And the youngsters haven’t seen the black-and-white films of the walking dead described by this old, war-hardened, British soldier, as he expressed he wished would happen. The college students—and others who have forgotten, or haven’t been taught, prefer the lies. They prefer, rather, to keep their noses in their smartphones and instead attend exciting “protests” against the much-hated Jews. We are witnessing the rising of another holocaust. It is the holocaust Jesus and the prophet Jeremiah spoke about in warning about what is coming on this judgment-bound world of anti-God rebels: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:21) Jeremiah the prophet said: Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness. Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. (Jeremiah 30:6–7) This generation is about to experience the ramifications of “forgetting the past,” as Santayana warned. Treatment of God’s chosen people is at the heart of bringing God’s righteous judgment and wrath down on a world whose inhabitants have rejected His Son, Jesus Christ, whom He sent as the sacrificial lamb slain from the foundation of the world for the redemption of sin-fallen humankind. Satan, the devil, was at the nucleus of the Nazi-engendered Holocaust of the 1930s. He is at the heart of the genocide being called for by many of America’s college students and much of the world’s populace today. Because of the treatment of His chosen nation and people, God will, according to the prophet Joel, bring all to Armageddon: For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. (Joel 3:1–2) Make sure you recognize the present rage against Israel (which isn’t a perfect nation by any stretch, but whose people God loves) is satanically inspired and driven. Christians should have this understanding, but, sadly, not all do. Unbelievers have an excuse, perhaps, for not understanding, but it is an excuse that nonetheless won’t assuage the judgment and wrath that are coming. Here is how to avoid the judgment and wrath, which God in His righteousness will bring against all who reject His Son for personal salvation of their souls: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. God’s hand was all throughout the history of Israel as a newborn state, and for the past more than 66 years, God is there. The Bible says that, “He that keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.” The people of Israel are strong and resilient. The people of Israel have seen the great hand of God in protecting and providing everything they needed. And we’re holding onto the promise that God gave to Israel through the prophet Amos in the ninth chapter of his book: “‘And I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; they shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. I will plant them in their land and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land that I have given them,’ says the Lord your God. Amen.” At its birth in 1948, the nation of Israel was invaded by five armies who proclaimed a jihad, vowing to destroy Israel and spill every drop of their own blood, if necessary. When attacked, Israel did not own one tank or cannon and had nine outdated aircraft. The five invading armies were repelled, and Israel survived and even thrived. Before the Six-Day War of 1967, President Nasser of Egypt announced, “The armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon are poised on the borders of Israel…to face the challenge, while standing behind us are the armies of Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan, and the whole Arab nation. This act will astound the world. Today they will know that the Arabs are arranged for battle, the critical hour has arrived. We have reached the stage of serious action and not declarations.” President Abdur Rahman Aref of Iraq joined in the war of words, saying, “The existence of Israel is an error which must be rectified. This is our opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has been with us since 1948. Our goal is clear — to wipe Israel off the map.” On June 4, Iraq joined the military alliance with Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. The Arab rhetoric was matched by the mobilization of Arab forces. Approximately 250,000 troops (nearly half in Sinai), more than 2,000 tanks, and 700 aircraft surrounded Israel. Yet again, outnumbered, outgunned, surrounded, and facing seemingly insurmountable odds, it took just six days for Israel to be victorious. East Jerusalem was taken, and the sound of these words resonated throughout the county: “The Temple Mount is in our hands!” On October 6, 1973 — Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar — Egypt and Syria opened a coordinated surprise attack against Israel. Approximately 180 Israeli tanks faced an onslaught of 1,400 Syrian tanks. Along the Suez Canal, fewer than 500 Israeli defenders were attacked by 80,000 Egyptians (from the Jewish Virtual Library). Yet Israel was again victorious. Even with all this clear evidence that Israel is once again a nation by the providence and promises of God, here we are again today with Israel under attack by those who hate the Jews. Zechariah 12:3 KJV – “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.” The fact that what we are watching is spiritual in nature is proven by the world’s seeming indifference to rape, torture, and murder, as long as it is against the Jews. Sadly, many within the church have joined those labeling the Jews as occupiers and excusing the actions of the Palestinian terrorists as justified because of their oppression. Some do so under a banner proclaiming that modern Israel is not biblical Israel. Genesis 12:3 KJV – “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” Genesis 12:7 KJV – “And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.” Genesis 17:18-19 KJV – “And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! 19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.” If modern Israel is not Biblical Israel, then why is the God of the Bible protecting it from those who want to annihilate its people? The answer is simple: He made the covenant, and it is His name and Word that is on the line. In the famed passage of Genesis 12:3, we see a warning of curses followed by a promise of blessings which still stands true and is manifesting itself today. God said that through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would come the Holy One of Israel, our Savior, and the world is still blessed by Him today. But if the promise is still true, the warning is as well. The interesting thing about the warning is that “curse” and “curses” are two different Hebrew words. The word “curse” means “to treat bitterly.” The word “curses” means “to make light of or think little of.” In paraphrase, what we are told is those who think little of Israel will be treated bitterly by God for doing so. History has proven this to be true concerning the modern nation of regathered Jews into their national homeland. It will be proven again in the current conflict, and, soon, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against Jerusalem, it will be proven again then too! Zechariah 12:8-9 KJV – “In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus. Many were hoping that the outbreaks that we have witnessed over the past few years would fade away and that life would soon return to normal. Unfortunately, the truth is that “normal” is never coming back. Even as you read this article, mad scientists all over the globe are monkeying around with some of the deadliest bugs ever known to humanity, and as we have seen it is way too easy for a “mistake” to happen. Our ability to create deadly diseases far exceeds our ability to control them, and once a pathogen gets loose it can spread around the world in the blink of an eye. So whenever a new outbreak erupts, we need to watch it very carefully. This week, it is being reported that public health workers wearing white hazmat suits have been spraying the streets in northern China. Footage of this has created quite a stir on social media, because we witnessed the exact same thing at the beginning of the COVID pandemic… Public health workers wearing full protective gear have appeared on the streets of northern China, according to footage on social media, evoking memories of the country’s stringent anti-virus measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hazmat-clad personnel were seen spraying disinfectant in public spaces in Sanhe, in China’s northern Hebei Province roughly 50 miles east of capital Beijing, according to the poster of the images and video footage. It remains unclear whether this was a local government initiative or central government directive. This spraying is happening at a time when “mask-wearing crowds” are overwhelming hospitals all over China. Chinese authorities insist that it is just the flu and other common diseases, but of course not everyone is buying that explanation… Alarming footage shows mask-wearing crowds inside a Chinese hospital amid fears over a mystery pneumonia sweeping the country. Beijing insists a new virus is not to blame for scenes of chaos, which have prompted officials to encourage residents to don coverings, socially distance and stay home if unwell. Instead, health chiefs have pinned the rise on flu and other routine bugs, with China now battling its first full winter without a Covid-induced lockdown. If the flu and other common diseases really are to blame, how is it possible that many hospitals in China are now operating at maximum capacity? In some cases, patients are being forced to wait “a day or longer” to see a doctor… In the past days, China’s state-controlled media have reported on hospitals in Beijing, Tianjin and other northern areas operating at maximum capacity. Beijing Children’s Hospital alone reported admitting over 7,000 daily cases, one report said. Patients said they experienced closed outpatient clinics and long lines, some enduring waits of a day or longer at emergency departments. Something doesn’t smell right. If this really is the flu, it is a flu outbreak on a scale that I have never seen before. Meanwhile, authorities in the UK have confirmed a human case of the swine flu… Health officials are investigating the first confirmed case of a new strain of swine flu in the UK. The A(H1N2)v infection was detected in a routine flu screening test at a GP surgery in North Yorkshire. Is this something that we should be concerned about? Officials in the UK seem to think so, because right now they are “scrambling to trace contacts” of the person that was infected… Health officials are scrambling to trace contacts of a person infected with a new form of swine flu, after the UK detected its first human case of H1N2. Fifty human cases of the strain have been reported globally since 2005. The new case is the first to be detected in the UK and is unrelated genetically to the previous cases. So far, it is just one case. Hopefully that is where it will end. But it is important to note that there was also a human case of the swine flu in the United States back in August. And this has occurred at a time when the bird flu is experiencing another resurgence. At just one farm in Ohio, more than 1.3 million chickens are being put down due to an outbreak that has erupted there… Over 1.3 million chickens are being killed on an Ohio farm to contain an outbreak of avian influenza, as first reported by The Associated Press. The US Department of Agriculture reported Tuesday that the flock is being slaughtered after the detection of a case of bird flu on the Union County egg farm. Sadly, this follows similar incidents in Iowa and Minnesota… This is the second farm to kill over 1 million birds this month as a Taylor County, Iowa egg farm killed 1.1 million birds. A Wright County, Minnesota farm also killed 940,000 birds this month. Chicken and turkey are already absurdly expensive. So what is going to happen if this disease kills tens of millions of birds once again this winter? Needless to say, it isn’t just the U.S. that is dealing with the bird flu. This month, it has popped up again in Japan for the first time in quite a while… Japan detected the first case of highly pathogenic H5-type bird flu this season at a poultry farm in the south of the country, public broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday. The local government in Saga Prefecture will cull about 40,000 birds on the farm, NHK said, citing agriculture ministry officials it did not name. Let’s just hope that the bird flu doesn’t mutate into a form that can spread easily among people, because the global death rate for H5N1 in humans is over 50 percent. Of course health officials are still wrestling with COVID. Despite all of their efforts, COVID is still very much with us, and there are a couple of variants that are currently troubling authorities… Cases of EG.5 increased over the summer, but it was recently outpaced in the United States by a closely related subvariant called HV.1. This subvariant now accounts for 29 per cent of the COVID-19 cases in the US, according to the latest figures from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). “HV.1 is essentially a variant that’s derived from EG.5.1 (and previously XBB.1.5) that’s just accumulating a few mutations that allow it to better infect people who have immunity to SARS-CoV-2,” Andrew Pekosz, a professor of molecular microbiology and immunology at Johns Hopkins University in the US, told Euronews Next. So what is the bottom line? The bottom line is that we really are living in extremely chaotic times, and pestilences will be one of the major themes of this new era. In other words, we should fully expect deadly outbreaks to be quite common during the months and years that are ahead. Many of the diseases that will get unleashed in our time will have been cooked up in a lab somewhere. So the truth is that much of the pain and suffering that we will soon experience will be the result of nightmarish “experiments” that our own governments have encouraged and funded. This is not just some nebulous big government “thing.” It is a threat to your life and the lives of your loved ones as confirmed by testimony of FBI director Christopher Wray, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and National Counterterrorism Director Christine Abizaid before the House Committee on Homeland Security November 15. The committee’s conclusion: “In the hearing, members received confirmation of the urgent national security threat posed by the nearly 1.8 million known gotaways and the rising number of individuals on the terrorist watchlist apprehended crossing the Southwest border…” The Committee’s account documented, “Wray confirmed these facts in his testimony and alluded to Chairman Green that the national security consequences of the crisis have turned every state into a border state. Director Wray even confirmed all 56 FBI joint terrorism task forces are occupied with threats coming across the border. Worse, Mayorkas could not confirm that every suspected terrorist that crosses the Southwest border illegally is detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), while Wray admitted that the FBI is still attempting to locate certain individuals on the terrorist watchlist who have crossed into the United States. Throughout his testimony, Mayorkas consistently refused to answer direct questions about how his policies have opened America’s borders, and the national security consequences of those policies.” After listening to the testimonies of these government bureaucrats in charge of US national security, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) concluded, “This migration crisis is a self-inflicted crisis—one we created by the change in our policy, and it has put Americans at increased risk, as you’ve acknowledged. … These catch-and-release policies that Mr. Mayorkas have implemented are the cause of the problem. You have to ask yourself, with the way that these catch-and-release policies are working now…If you get to come into the country, why wouldn’t you just turn yourself into Border Patrol?…Well, it’s because they don’t want to be caught. And that scares us even more considering it’s [nearly] two million people.” How this is relevant to you is found in Custom and Border Patrol official crime statistics. Criminal non-citizen arrests are as follows: In FY 2023 are 15,267 compared with 2,438 in FY 2020, the last year of the Trump Administration. Assault, Battery Domestic violence arrests in FY 2020 were 208 compared with 1,254 in FY 2023. Homicide, Manslaughter in 2020 was 3 compared with 62 in FY 2022. Similar ratios hold true for drug trafficking, DUIs, sexual offenses, and illegal weapons possession and trafficking. This government is not able to protect you from these illegal criminals. Some people buy every piece of property on the board and hope to put their opponents out of business. Others save up, hoping they’ll land on green or blue so they can buy up Boardwalk and Park Place and put hotels on them. They can make a lot of money that way. But when the game ends, so do their winnings. How accurate is the verse in Proverbs that says, “In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle” (23:5 nlt). It’s amazing how quickly finances can disappear. We can’t take it with us, but we can send it on ahead. How? By investing in the work of the kingdom of God. In doing so, we’re storing treasures in Heaven. Money is neither good nor evil. Money is neutral. The Bible doesn’t say that money is the root of evil. Here’s what it does say: “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows” (1 Timothy 6:10 NLT). The problem isn’t money itself. The problem is the love of it. If money is the most important thing in our lives, then it will be the root of all kinds of evil in our lives. But if we can put it in the proper perspective, it can be a force for good to help and touch others. And we honor God by bringing our offerings to Him. The Bible says, “O nations of the world, recognize the Lord, recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence” (1 Chronicles 16:28–29 NLT). Jesus said that “it is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35 NLT). There is so much joy that we can experience in giving. He also warned, “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be” (Matthew 6:19–21 NLT ). Jesus didn’t say this because wealth might be lost. He said it because it always will be lost. In other words, we always will leave it behind. Either it leaves us while we’re living, or we leave it when we die. There are no exceptions. Whatever is valuable on earth will have no value in Heaven. Is Jesus condemning those who are financially prosperous? No. Is He saying that it’s wrong to make and save money? Absolutely not. Rather, He’s saying that it’s wrong to put all our hope in temporary, earthly treasures and have nothing waiting for us in eternity.
