Against Overwhelming Odds: The Resurgence of Israel’s Military in Bible Prophecy - By David Reagan - https://harbingersdaily.com/against-overwhelming-odds-the-resurgence-of-israels-military-in-bible-prophecy/
Israel is the major focus of End Time Bible prophecy. That’s the reason that the re-establishment of the nation in the 20th Century was so important. That event signaled the fact that we are now living in the end of the end times. Prophecies Concerning Israel During the 20th Century, we were privileged to witness God beginning to fulfill in whole or in part seven prophecies regarding the Jewish people: 1) The regathering of the Jews from the four corners of the earth (Isaiah 11:10-12). Theodor Herzl’s book, The Jewish State, published in 1896, helped motivate Jewish migration back to Israel. There were 40,000 Jews in Palestine in 1900. Today, there are over 7 million in the land of Israel. 2) The re-establishment of the state of Israel (Ezekiel 37:21-22). This prophecy was fulfilled on May 14, 1948, when the Israeli Declaration of Independence was proclaimed in Tel Aviv. 3) The reclamation of the land (Ezekiel 36:34-35). When the Jews started returning to the land just over 100 years ago, it was a malaria-infested swampland that had been denuded of all its forests. Today, it produces food in abundance, and the forests have been replanted. 4) The revival of the Hebrew language (Zephaniah 3:9 and Jeremiah 31:23). When the Jews were scattered worldwide, they stopped speaking Hebrew. But in the 1800s, God raised up a Lithuanian Jew named Eliezer Ben-Yehuda to resurrect the language from the dead. Hebrew now predominates as one of the three official languages of Israel. 5) The re-occupation of the city of Jerusalem (Zechariah 8:4-8). When the Israeli War of Independence ended in 1949, the Old City of Jerusalem was under Jordanian occupation. The Israelis reclaimed the city during the Six-Day War on June 7, 1967. 6) The resurgence of the Israeli military (Zechariah 12:6). Even though Israel is one of the smallest nations, its military is considered one of the top ten in the world. 7) The re-focusing of world politics on the nation of Israel and its city of Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:2-3). Today world attention is focused on Israel and Jerusalem — as has been abundantly evident in late 2023. Military Power in Prophecy From its humble beginnings in 1948, the Israeli military has become a highly professional and capable force. The prophet Ezekiel referred to the revival of Israel in the last days as producing “an exceedingly great military force” (Ezekiel 37:10). Zechariah was more specific, prophesying that God would make “the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves” and enable them to “consume on the right hand and on the left” all their enemies (Zechariah 12:6). He proceeded to state that in the end times, the nation will be so strong that the “one who stumbles among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of Yahweh before them” (Zechariah 12:8). Let’s look now at the [first of the] major conflicts of the past that offer evidence of the fulfillment of these prophecies. The War of Independence (November 1947 – March 1949) On November 29, 1947, the United Nations adopted a resolution providing for the ending of the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine, replacing British rule with a partition of the land that would result in the creation of two states, one Jewish and the other Arab. Jews worldwide were elated, even though the territory they were offered was merely a portion of what they had been promised in the British Balfour Declaration of 1917. But the Arabs were outraged because they wanted all the land of Palestine. They immediately launched a civil war that continued right up to the day that the Jews issued their declaration of independence on May 14, 1948. The surrounding Arab nations repeatedly warned that they would attack in mass if the Jews declared independence. For example, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Azzam Pasha, declared, “It will be a war of annihilation. It will be a momentous massacre in history that will be talked about like the massacres of the Mongols or the Crusades.” On the Jewish side, there was considerable concern that such boasting could become a reality. Thus, on the eve of the war, Yigael Yadin, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli forces, told David Ben-Gurion, the Jewish leader, “The best we can tell you is that we have a 50-50 chance.” The fears materialized within hours of the declaration of independence when five Arab armies (Egypt, Transjordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq) attacked the new nation. At the time, Israel had only 30,000 rag-tag fighters who were ill-trained and poorly equipped. The Arab armies, particularly the Jordanians, were well-trained and equipped with aircraft, tanks, and modern artillery. Transjordan’s army was even led by British officers under the command of General John Glubb. President Harry Truman officially recognized the new state of Israel immediately, but his Administration refused to provide any aid under the naive assumption that it would help avert bloodshed. Britain openly supplied arms to the Arabs, while Israel had to smuggle surplus weapons from Eastern Europe. But despite the overwhelming odds against them, the infant Jewish state prevailed, albeit at enormous cost. 6,377 Israelis were killed — nearly one percent of the population (equivalent to an American loss today of 3.4 million!). In the end, Israelis controlled not only the territory allotted to them by the UN but also 60% of the area that had been proposed for an Arab state. The only key area that the Israelis were unable to conquer was the Old City of Jerusalem. Overall, the war represented a miraculous victory for Israel. The Hard Work of The IDF Continued with Amazing Success… Until Now – By Amir Tsarfati - https://harbingersdaily.com/amir-tsarfati-the-hard-work-of-the-idf-continued-with-amazing-success-until-now/ (Galilee, Israel) — Once again, this has been a week filled with difficulties and some victories. I have found myself reliving October 7 over and over each and every day as I hear the reports of victims, eyewitnesses, and those members of the media who were given opportunities to relive the aftermath. I watched as a 24-year-old girl went back to where she hid for her life at the music festival while she watched one friend after another executed with a bullet to the forehead. I saw one British reporter, emotionally overwhelmed at the video evidence he was shown, marveling that anyone could say these atrocities never took place. I heard Israel’s first lady, Michal Herzog, tell of evidence of young women who were raped so violently that their pelvic bones were broken. God, heal this nation. Our spirit is strong, but inside we are broken. The ferreting out of the Hamas infrastructure has continued through the past week. Al-Shifa hospital has been a primary target because the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) must go to where the enemy is. The terrorists were the ones who chose to base their operations in tunnels below essential humanitarian targets. Any innocent lives who may be caught up in the battles are the result of the evil combatants who drew the war to the hospital. They are not the fault of the Israeli forces who warned all civilians ahead of time that they were coming, so as to minimize any collateral damage. Not only has the fight been forced to al-Shifa, but the Indonesian hospital in Gaza has been fully evacuated in preparation for destruction. Once again, it is not because the IDF is trying to destroy the Gazans’ medical infrastructure. It is because Hamas converted its primary use from a place of healing to human shield. The hard work of the IDF continued with amazing success . . . until now. A ceasefire in Gaza has gone into effect. Brokered by Qatar, with much input and influence from the U.S., this timeout in the war is ostensibly designed for the freeing of 50 kidnapped Israeli hostages and the release of 150 Gazan prisoners. Over four days, it is expected that 10-12 hostages will be returned home per day. As part of the deal, Israel will allow around 300 aid trucks per day to enter Gaza from Egypt. Fuel will also be transferred across the border. In addition, from 10:00 AM through 4:00 PM each day, Israel has agreed to stop surveillance flights over Gaza. I believe this has been a very difficult decision for Prime Minister Netanyahu and his administration. The whole reason the kidnappings took place to begin with was so that innocent Israelis could be used as bargaining chips when Hamas inevitably faced military difficulties. It was a plan that is now about to perfectly come into fruition. Northern Gaza is being razed to the ground. Hamas leadership is either cornered or dead. What to do? Pull out your ace card. In the Palestinian terrorist mind, they know that Israelis value life and want to see their fellow citizens safe. They’ll do almost anything to see it happen. They’ll even stop fighting when they are on the verge of decimating Hamas. Not only that, but they will go intelligence-dark for six hours a day so that the terrorists can rescue their trapped leadership and secretly shift all the puzzle pieces around so they are ready to fight again. For two weeks, the Israeli leadership has said, “No, we won’t agree to a ceasefire.” But, as I just said, Israelis value life. In the past, there was a time we traded 1,027 Palestinian prisoners for a single Israeli soldier. There were consequences then, and there will be consequences now. For the sake of those innocent hostages, Netanyahu and the IDF are willing to face those consequences. The Prime Minister has made it clear that when the cease-fire ends, the military will resume prosecuting this war with the same level of vigor as before. He has also informed Israel’s citizens that he has instructed the Mossad to eliminate the leaders of Hamas wherever they are. In the north, the semi-quiet battle in Lebanon continues. Hezbollah sends rockets and suicide UAVs, some of which sneak through the Iron Dome defenses and cause minimal damage. The Israeli Air Force has been striking in and around Damascus, as well as other places throughout the country such as near Tyre. Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah, still seems hesitant to go all in with a war against Israel, which is a very wise decision on his part. In Iraq, the U.S. remains on alert as Iranian proxies regularly attack American bases in the area, particularly those around oil fields. On Tuesday, 10 U.S. soldiers were wounded as the result of a missile attack on the Ain Al Assad base in Iraq. In retaliation the next morning, the U.S. attacked the Al Hashd Al Shaabi organization, an Iranian proxy militia, killing six of the terrorists’ missile unit. Not all the world news is negative. Argentina just voted in a libertarian, populist president, Javier Millei. When the far-left socialist leaders of some other South American nations lament his win by saying that it is a victory for “fascism and neo-conservatism,” you know that he likely is a guy worth celebrating. There is hope that his capitalist approach will help alleviate Argentina’s struggling economy. Also, in a vote on Wednesday in the Netherlands, the right-leaning parties made significant gains. With his platform of shutting down the border and leaving the EU, it appears that Geert Wilders will now find himself in the prime minister’s seat. Wilders is a staunch supporter of Israel who not only wants to move the Netherlands embassy to Jerusalem, but also advocates closing the Dutch diplomatic post in Ramallah. I have been given a tremendous opportunity to speak to a number of U.S. congressional members this coming week about the situation in Israel. I am flying today to Washington, D.C., where I have been invited to several venues to speak to senators, congressmen, and other political influencers. Please pray for safety and impact. Pray that the meetings take place, as congressional members are often called away for various reasons at the last minute. Pray that the Lord gives me wisdom in thought and clarity in my words as I seek to give them insight into what my people are facing in Israel. Most importantly, please pray for protection for my family while I am gone. My country is still at war, and if I didn’t feel that this was clearly a door that God has opened I would not be leaving the side of my wife and children. Has Whatever Is Spreading Like Wildfire in China Already Reached the United States and Europe? - by Michael Snyder - http://endoftheamericandream.com/has-whatever-is-spreading-like-wildfire-in-china-already-reached-the-united-states-and-europe/ Why are so many children all over the world suddenly developing pneumonia? For the moment, health authorities are telling us that there is no reason to be alarmed. They are telling us that all of these cases of pneumonia are being caused by the flu, RSV and other common respiratory diseases. Hopefully that is the truth. But to many of us, it certainly appears that something very unusual is going on. As I discussed yesterday, massive numbers of children in China have been getting seriously sick. According to CBS News, Beijing and other areas of northern China have been hit the hardest so far… Hospitals across China, the nation where the COVID-19 pandemic first emerged about four years ago, are grappling with a significant surge in respiratory illnesses among children. This primarily is being seen in Beijing and the northern regions. The rise in cases has been making headlines in China and raising concerns internationally, as Chinese doctors are working overtime to care for a huge flood of small patients. In response to this dramatic surge in cases, workers in hazmat suits have been spraying the streets and Chinese authorities have “brought back masks and social distancing”… CHINA has brought back masks and social distancing in a chilling echo of lockdown as they battle a mystery pneumonia outbreak four years on from Covid. Alarming footage has emerged of mask-wearing crowds inside Chinese hospitals as fears of a new pandemic sweep across the globe. Areas in the north of the country such as Beijing and Liaoning have been hit the hardest, with reports emerging last week that hospitals are being overwhelmed with sick children. Why is China implementing such extreme measures if there is no reason for concern? According to a British news source, many of the children that are showing up at Chinese hospitals have developed what is known as “white lung syndrome”… A common bacterial infection called mycoplasma pneumoniae has circulated since May but is now showing ground glass opacity in lung scans – an indicator of severe respiratory illness. Also known as “white lung syndrome”, many parents are deeply worried and are having to wait at least a day just for emergency care. There aren’t enough doctors to care for all of the kids that are severely ill, and that is extremely alarming. I was hoping that this crisis would be limited to China, but now large numbers of children in Europe are suddenly developing pneumonia too… Cases of pneumonia in children are rising in Europe as a second country reports an uptick in the deadly respiratory disease. The Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (NIVEL) has reported that 80 out of every 100,000 children in the country between ages five and 14 came down with pneumonia last week. This is something that we will want to watch very, very closely. If Europe follows the same path that China has, we may have a new global health crisis on our hands. And it looks like the U.S. has been affected as well. According to Fox News, hospitals in the Washington D.C. area are also “seeing an uptick in sick visits” from patients that have developed respiratory conditions… The mysterious respiratory illnesses that are reportedly wreaking havoc in hospitals in China are now raising concerns for the medical community across the country and impacting Washington D.C., according to reports. FOX 5 DC has learned that hospitals, emergency rooms, urgent care locations and clinics are reportedly seeing an uptick in sick visits. At this point, we don’t know if what is happening in the United States and and what is happening in Europe are both related to what is happening in China. Is it just a coincidence that kids in Europe are developing pneumonia in staggering numbers just like Chinese kids are? During the COVID pandemic, children fared better than anyone else. But now children are getting absolutely hammered by whatever this is. And all of this is happening at a time when hospitals in the United States are dealing with repeated cyberattacks. In fact, hospitals in three states have actually had to divert patients away from their emergency rooms due to cyberattacks on the company that owns them… Hospitals in at least three states are diverting patients from their emergency rooms after a major cyberattack hit their parent company last week. Ardent Health Services, which oversees 30 hospitals across the U.S., said Monday that it had been the victim of a severe ransomware attack in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas, forcing it to take action. “In an abundance of caution, our facilities are rescheduling some non-emergent, elective procedures and diverting some emergency room patients to other area hospitals until systems are back online,” the company said in a news release. There have been so many cyberattacks in the news lately. Personally, I think that terror organizations in the Middle East are probably behind many of them. But of course I cannot prove that. Let’s just hope that our system can weather these cyberattacks, because I have a feeling that our hospitals are going to be very busy this winter. Hopefully this current outbreak will fade away quickly. But even if it does, it is just a matter of time before more great pestilences absolutely ravage our planet. We have reached a point where even college students can easily create extremely deadly hybrid diseases in a laboratory setting. But once a “mistake” happens and a bug gets loose, we are not able to control what happens. Tremendous plagues are going to kill millions upon millions of people in the years ahead, and what we have been through so far is just the beginning… Post-It Notes from The Edge: The Salve of Bible Prophecy – Jonathan Brentner - https://www.jonathanbrentner.com/https/jonathan-brentner-g8fgsquarespacecom/config/2023/11/27/post-it-notes-from-the-edge Life is hard; one might say it’s even brutal at times. I read about life’s afflictions in the many emails that come my way. I know that some of my friends and family members have felt the full force of life’s harshness. The afflictions and sleepless nights of my past serve as vivid reminders that life can be exceedingly painful. But didn’t Jesus promise us an “abundant life?” Yes, He did, but He also warned that we would have trouble, or tribulation, in this life (John 16:33). Commenting on the Lord’s words in John 10:10, John Eldredge wrote this in his book, Waking the Dead: By all means, God intends life for you. But right now that life is opposed. It doesn’t just roll in on a tray. There is a thief. He comes to steal and kill and destroy. In other words, yes, the offer is life, but you’re going to have to fight for it because there’s any Enemy in your life with a different agenda. There is something set against us. We are at war.[1] In the midst of the battles against our determined foe, we must also take into consideration that the Lord is testing our heart and preparing us for His intended purpose. In that regard, Eldredge offers these words that may not seem reassuring at first: The story of your life is the story of the long and brutal assault on your heart by the one who knows what you could be and fears it.[2] Jesus not only guided me safely through such “brutal” attacks against my heart, but He has also brought me to a place of ministry that reaches thousands around the world. How? What kept me from falling off the edge? Sometimes I wonder myself, but I know what the Lord used to keep me sane at such times. THE CERTAINTY OF JESUS’ BODILY RESURRECTION When the intensity of life’s battles smacked me squarely in the face, I wanted to run far, far away from the Lord, the Church, my faith, and everyone that claimed to be a Christian. My life had fallen apart, completely, and I blamed God for it. How could He allow these things to happen to me? How? There was something, however, that kept me tethered to my faith despite my desire to break free. It wasn’t until sometime later that I realized what it was. My unshakable conviction that Jesus had risen bodily from the dead kept me from fleeing. Peter’s words in John 6:68 sum up why I could not leave, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). I had nowhere else to go. During my time as a young pastor, the Lord planted the certainty of His resurrection deep in my soul and that validated my faith during the darkest of times. When the storms rage and you wonder how much longer you can keep going, remember that Jesus walked out of His tomb. The evidence is overwhelming. It’s a historical fact that His grave was empty and all attempts to explain it apart from His bodily resurrection fall far short. If you feel that your life is in a freefall, don’t let it go beyond the bedrock of Jesus’ resurrection and how that confirms all that you read in God’s Word. THE WORDS OF SCRIPTURE Imagine you are on the back of a motorcycle going down a highway at 70 MPH. Perhaps it’s a memory for some. At such times, you hold tightly to the person driving as though your life depends on it, and it probably does. That’s how tightly we must grasp the words of Scripture during the foreboding times that come our way. It was a slow realization for me. I remember reading Psalm 27 every morning for several weeks and later I memorized that Psalm and several other verses that spoke to my heart in the midst of my pain. I also wrote out several verses from this Psalm, and others, on post-it notes and put them in front of me at my workstation. The Holy Spirit used these constant reminders of God’s Word to repeatedly encourage my heart. Because the Bible is God’s Word, we can hold tightly to the words on its pages during the fiercest of storms. When you find yourself in the heat of the battle, immerse yourself in Scripture and grasp its promises. And if needed, write them on post-it notes as continual reminders. GOD’S GREAT LOVE FOR HIS CHILDREN One of my greatest failures during my past time of testing was not taking to heart God’s great love for me as His beloved child. In my book, The Triumph of the Redeemed, I share some of the circumstances behind my long night of weeping as I sat with my back against the outside wall of the church I once pastored. At the time, it felt as though the Lord was a million miles away. Now I know such was not the case. He was there all the time, every moment. I remember that night every time I sing or hear Matt Redman’s song, Never Once. The lyrics, “Never once did we ever walk alone. Never once did You leave us on our own.” Jesus saw all the tears and felt the pain inside me, but He knew the affliction was preparing me for a greater purpose and that someday I would thank Him for all the sorrows of my past. And I do. If I were to go back in time and add another a post-it note to my old workstation, I would write these words in large bold letters, “GOD LOVES ME!” At a later time, I wrote this in my journal, “Despite the rejection I feel, I still believe that the God of the universe loves me.” By that time, I had learned the significance of His great care for me. In his book, Morning & Evening Devotions, David Jeremiah quoted A.W. Tozer with words that speak to the Lord’s sovereign watchfulness over our paths: “To the child of God, there’s no such thing as an accident. . . . Accidents may indeed appear to befall him and misfortune stalk his way; but these evils will be so in appearance only and will seem evil only because we cannot read the secret script of God’s hidden providence.” The Lord’s “script,” I might add, takes our failures into account as well. THE SALVE OF BIBLE PROPHECY As a young pastor, I loved preaching on Bible prophecy. I spent several evening services going through the book of Daniel and of course, 1 Thessalonians was thoroughly covered during Sunday morning services. But there was a problem: I still valued my earthly aspirations above my eternal expectations. In the midst of trying circumstances, Jesus’ imminent appearing and my reign with Him during the millennium were never in my conscious thoughts. Yes, the pain might still have been severe and long-lasting. Looking back, I wonder what might have been different if along with recognizing the Lord’s great love for me, I had spent time meditating on the joys ahead for me once Jesus came to take me home to Heaven. In this case, I would’ve needed a post-it note with the words of 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 on it: For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. My past experiences have made me all the more passionate about communicating the joyous hope we have as believers. They add fuel to fire that burns inside me to safeguard believers against teachings that deny what the Bible promises us concerning the Rapture, seven-year Tribulation, and Jesus’ thousand-year reign over the nations seated on the throne of David. The comfort and hope of these future promises eventually brought sweet relief to me. They will most certainly do the same for other saints. Bible prophecy acts like a salve for the wounds we endure in this life. How can I not be passionate about sharing the comfort our blessed hope brings in the midst of the pain that others inflict on us. How is it possible for pastors to keep quiet regarding these precious comforting truths that believers so desperately need for the perilous times in which we live? How? Do they not understand how our hope acts as a salve? LEARNING TO TRUST GOD’S PERSON RATHER THAN GODLY BEHAVIOR As the Lord worked in my life, I learned the importance of trusting God’s person, His character, rather than godly behavior or good works. When adversity first struck, one of the first questions inside me was this: How could God allow such things to happen to me after all my efforts to serve Him? Yes, such thoughts spoke to my spiritual immaturity at the time. Years later, I led a Bible study on Bible characters who messed up their lives. As I focused on King Saul, I came to realize that one of his greatest failures was also a shortcoming of mine. He trusted the sacrifice more that God Himself. (1 Samuel 13) I don’t fully understand the relationship between God’s sovereignty and the many mistakes that I made in my past, but somehow God used them, along with my training and other experiences, to prepare me for the ministry that I have today. Apart from my brokenness and the Lord’s spectacular deliverance in spite of myself, I wouldn’t have a writing ministry or be the author of two published books with another one on the way. As I look back, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I trust God’s purposes in all he led me through. Now, the post-it note that’s written on my heart is this: “God Is Good; He’s Good All the Time.” Yes, He will allow circumstances to come into our lives. Even so, we can be certain that He loves us and is preparing us for a greater purpose both in this life and during the time when we reign with Him during the Millennium. The Lord will keep His promises to us; He will bring us home to glory and with resurrected bodies like that of His own (1 Corinthians 15:47-55; Philippians 3:20-21). In Heaven, we will experience joys and wonders far beyond what can now imagine. Our journey as believers ends in paradise. We have a hope that’s truly out of this world. Maranatha! Come soon, Lord Jesus! Note: Please consider signing up for my newsletter on the home page of my website at https://www.jonathanbrentner.com/ . Thanks! [1] John Eldredge, Waking the Dead (Nashville, Thomas Nelson, 2003), p. 13. [2] Ibid., p. 34. Daily Jot: Stupidocrisy: Biden’s Thanksgiving without God - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Joe Biden is exactly the type of politician and leader that this country doesn’t need and shouldn’t have. Despite destroying an excellent economy. Despite allowing an invasion across our borders of who knows what. Despite specific actions that has caused groceries and gasoline prices to soar to record levels of inflation. Despite paying lip service to Israel while sending billions to terrorists like Hamas, Iran, and the Palestinian Authority. Despite supporting, even promoting, the killing of the unborn. Despite characterizing patriotic Americans as extremists because they disagree with his horrible policies. This so-called leader of the free world denies the supreme power in declaring a day of Thanksgiving in America. In his Thanksgiving Proclamation, Biden mentions God once—when he says the date: “twenty-second day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-three.” Yes, he says we should “be grateful for all the blessings of this Nation and its limitless possibilities.” He said the Pilgrims celebrated Thanksgiving in “honor of their first successful harvest and the support and generosity of the Wampanoag people who made it possible.” Joe, the Pilgrims were not celebrating in honor of the Native Americans. Their feast was in thanksgiving “by the goodness of God,” as Pilgrim father Edward Winslow writes in “Mourt’s Relation,” the only account of the first Thanksgiving, celebrated over three days after the harvest with “many of the Indians coming amongst us.” Joe, either you don’t know history or you’re lying about it—or both. Joe recalls George Washington and his troops celebrating Thanksgiving and Abraham Lincoln proclaiming Thanksgiving a national holiday “to honor the blessings of our country.” Biden then shifts to placing giving thanks to mankind as he wrote “This week, Americans will gather with their loved ones and families, celebrating the love they share and the traditions they built together. To those who are also enduring hard times or grieving the loss of a loved one, know that we are thinking of you. We are truly a good Nation because we are a good people…This Thanksgiving we are grateful for our Nation and the incredible soul of America. May we all remember that we are the United States of America — there is nothing beyond our capacity if we do it together.” Then Joe exhorts: “I encourage the people of the United States of America to join together and give thanks for the friends, neighbors, family members, and strangers who have supported each other over the past year in a reflection of goodwill and unity.” Where do blessings come from Joe? Surely as a good Catholic boy, you would know that all blessings are of God. To whom are we giving thanks, Joe? You? Thanksgiving is not about patting citizens on the back because they are good people (except those extreme Christians and conservatives) or because we are America. Thanksgiving is a Psalm 103:2 day, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” To not mention the blessings of God in relation to Thanksgiving is revealing to Biden’s lack of character and denial of the one true God. It’s dangerous and it’s, say it with me…Stupidocrisy. Daily Devotion: The Way God Sees Them - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org The next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a terrible sin, but I will go back up to the Lord on the mountain. Perhaps I will be able to obtain forgiveness for your sin.” —Exodus 32:30 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/the-way-god-sees-them/ - Listen It was a test for Moses. God told him that He was going to destroy the Israelites. And when we read Exodus 32, it would appear that Moses pleaded with God and brought Him around. But God was testing Moses. He wanted to see if Moses was learning anything. Jesus sometimes tested His disciples. When the multitudes gathered and had nothing to eat, Jesus turned to Philip and said, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” (John 6:5 NLT). The Bible goes on to say that Jesus said this to test Philip. Then there was the Syro-Phoenician woman. She came to Jesus and asked Him to touch her demon-possessed daughter. Being a non-Jew, she was coming to the Messiah of Israel and asking for His mercy. But Jesus seemed almost flippant in His reply, saying, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs” (Mark 7:27 NLT). The woman told Him, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates” (verse 28 NLT). So Jesus commended her and granted her request. She passed His test. Jesus wasn’t turning her away; He was drawing her out. It was a test for her to rise to the occasion. And when she did, Jesus rewarded her for it. Moses passed God’s test as well. He interceded for the people, saying, “Why let the Egyptians say, ‘Their God rescued them with the evil intention of slaughtering them in the mountains and wiping them from the face of the earth’? Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you have threatened against your people!” (Exodus 32:12 nlt). God wants us to care about people who are separated from Him and intercede for them. He wants us to see them not as the enemy but as sheep without a shepherd—as people who need the Savior. In fact, Moses cared so much about these people that he said, “But now, if you will only forgive their sin—but if not, erase my name from the record you have written!” (verse 32 NLT). Thankfully, no such thing is required. But it shows the heart of a true intercessor. The apostle Paul said something similar when he wrote, “For my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them” (Romans 9:3 NLT). That is the kind of heart that we need to have toward nonbelievers. That is standing in the gap. Speaking through the prophet Ezekiel, God said, “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30 NLT). God is still looking for people to stand in the gap today to pray and proclaim His Word.
