In my last article, The End of the Age – From Firstfruits to Hanukkah (rev310.net), I explained why I believe the last seven years of Daniel’s 70th Seven prophecy (Daniel 9:24-27) will be based on the Jewish calendar and not a 360-day “prophetic” calendar. More on this later, but first, let’s review some basic facts regarding the Jewish calendar and some others as well. In our modern Gregorian calendar there are either 2556 or 2557 days in a seven-year span. The so-called prophetic year has 2520 days in a seven-year period. The Jewish calendar has either 2538-2541 days or 2568-2570 days in a seven-year time span, according to my research.
 
A lunar month, from new moon to new moon, is on average approximately 29.53 days in duration. The new moon I am talking about is the dark moon that cannot be seen, not a crescent moon. Most scholars believe the Jewish calendar in olden times was based on sightings of a crescent moon for the first day of the month/s. After the destruction of the second Temple and Jerusalem and the Jew’s later deportation from the land of Judah, the Jewish people eventually adopted the calculated 19-year Metonic cycle’s structure for their lunisolar calendar, where the phases of the moon are based on calculations and not by observation. With this calendar, the new moon is the dark moon, not the waning crescent moon. Regarding the Jewish lunisolar calendar, there are normally 353-355 days per year. Where an intercalary month of days is added, there will be 383-385 days per month. This is why there is such a discrepancy in the number of days per seven-year timeframes.
 
Our Gregorian solar calendar generally has 30 or 31 days per month. The Jewish calculated calendar has either 29 or 30 days per month. Nisan has 30 days, Iyyar has 29 days, Sivan has 30 days, Tammuz has 29 days, Av has 30 days, Elul has 29 days, Tishri has 30 days, Heshvan has 29 or 30 days, Kislev has 29 or 30 days, Teveth has 29 days, Shevat has 30 days, Adar has 29 days. If the intercalary month of Veadar is added, it has 30 days. The Jewish calendar was arranged in this manner in order to have some control over when the Feasts of the Lord, such as Passover, Trumpets, and the day of Atonement, occur. Basically, they don’t want to have two Sabbath days (weekly Sabbath and special high day Sabbath) occur back-to-back.
 
At this point, the major rules get a little complicated. There is a principle regarding the Jewish calendar system that says, "Lo Adu Rosh," meaning, the first day of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) cannot fall on Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday. Likewise, there is a principle known as "Lo Badu Pesach," which means that the first day of Passover (Pesach - Nisan 15 for the Jews) cannot fall on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. The reason why the Rabbis ordained that Pesach cannot fall on these days is that if Pesach would fall on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, then the first day of Rosh Hashanah would fall on Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday.
 
The Rabbis wanted to prevent these scenarios because of their ramifications regarding Atonement (Yom Kippur): if the first day of Rosh Hashanah falls on Wednesday, then Yom Kippur falls on Friday, and if Rosh Hashanah falls on Friday, then Yom Kippur falls on Sunday. Either situation – where Yom Kippur falls on Friday or Sunday – would pose considerable difficulty, and the Rabbis, therefore, arranged the calendar in such a way that this could never happen. The Jewish calendar based on the 19-year Metonic cycle is really ingenious in this regard. However, it’s not Biblical. The days of the months should be determined from new moon to new moon, regardless of what day of the week it falls on, especially now that the moon’s phases can be known beforehand. As I mentioned in my previous article, I believe Daniel’s prophecy of 70 weeks/sevens (heptads) is based on the Jewish calendar with its Shemitah years every seventh year. There is no mention of Jubilee years, only “sevens” which refer to the Sabbath year of rest. There are several descriptions or terms for the duration of the last 3.5 years of Daniel’s 70 sevens prophecy, known as the Great Tribulation, such as “42 months,” or “time, times, and half a time,” but there are only three passages of scripture that record an exact number of days between biblical events. The Lord must have done this for a reason, otherwise, He would have kept the same terms for the specified timeframes.
 
The first passage of scripture is found in Revelation 12:6: “Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. I believe these 1260 days are referring to the exact number of days between the Feast of Firstfruits and the Day of Atonement/Tishri 10 which occurs three and a half years later. The exact duration of 1260 days between these two Feast days only occurs on certain rare heptads. There is also another 1260-day timeframe between Nisan 10 and Tishri 1 (the Feast of Trumpets), three and a half years later. Nisan 10 is the date Jesus rode into Jerusalem as the King of the Jews but was not accepted as such. Tishri 1 will be the date Jesus returns to the earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This time He will be accepted as The King.
 
The Feast of Firstfruits is not acknowledged as a separate Feast of the Lord for the Jews these days, it is simply known as the day the counting of the Omer begins. Firstfruits does not occur on Nisan 16 as most rabbinic Jews believe, but on the day after the weekly Sabbath following the Passover “He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it” (Leviticus 23:11). Firstfruits and Pentecost are the two Feasts of the Lord where no specific dates were given for them in the Torah. That is because they are “day of the week” specific and thus can come on different dates within the Jewish calendar. If Firstfruits was meant to be on Nisan 16, the Lord would have said so. If Shavuot or Pentecost was meant to be on Sivan 6, the Lord would have said so.
 
The Jewish first day of Passover is Nisan 15 which is a special “sabbath” where no work is permitted. The Jews don’t consider Nisan 14 to be the actual day of Passover. The 1260 days mentioned in Revelation 12:6 will start on a future Feast of Firstfruits, a Sunday, and end three and a half years later on the Day of Atonement/Tishri 10, a Saturday Sabbath. In my last article, I mentioned the 1260 days were from Sunday to Sunday, but that is just the amount of days between these two Sunday dates. The Day of Atonement will end on a Saturday evening before Sunday begins.
 
The next verse of scripture regarding the exact number of days for the Great Tribulation timeline is found in the Book of Daniel. “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days” (Daniel 12:11). The 1290 days of desolation are from Firstfruits to Heshvan 9, three and a half years later on the Jewish calendar. Actually, Heshvan 10 will be the first day of the Millennium, so Tishri 30 will be the end of Daniel’s 70th Seven.
 
The next verse of scripture in Daniel describes the 45 days beyond the 70th seven. “Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. These 1335 days are from Firstfruits to Kislev 25, otherwise known as Hanukkah. The event that occurs on the 1335th day from the desecration of the temple (or 45 days past the 1290 days) is not given, only that the people will be blessed on this day. Evidently, these 45 days will take place after the Tribulation is over. I believe the wedding feast of the Lamb will take place on this day, along with the cleansing of the Temple and the inauguration of the Millennial Kingdom.
 
Seven out of nineteen years of the Metonic cycle have an extra month of 30 days. These embolismic years occur in the following years of the cycle: 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 19. These particular years will consist of 383, 384, or 385 days. Currently, in the year 2023 AD, we are in the 8th year of the current cycle, an embolismic year. The year 2023 AD matches the first-century year of 28 AD in that they are/were both in the 8th year of their respective 19-year cycle/s. Whether or not this alignment is anything significant in regard to eschatological matters, I don’t know. It could be we are in the “season” of the Lord’s return.
 
The new and full moons of these twenty-first century years will not fall on the same dates as their current first-century counterparts as they have now advanced by 7-8 days. For example, in 28 AD, the new moon of Tishri 1 (the first day of the civic Jewish calendar) fell on September 7, 28 AD (according to NASA’s reckoning). In 2023 AD, the new moon of Tishri 1 will fall on September 15. The Metonic cycle’s moon phases and their dates are in harmony (every 19 years) for about 250-290 years until they drift apart by one day.
 
If these different era years are in alignment, regarding the Metonic cycle, then the Sabbath or Shemitah “weeks” (seven years) are in alignment as well. For example, the years 26 – 33 AD have a total of 2569 days (from Tishri to Tishri) just as its modern-day counterpart of 2021 – 2028 does. The Jewish Sabbath “weeks” are approximately 2540 or 2569 days in duration. I believe the last seven years of Daniel’s prophecy (the 70th seven) will contain 2569 days.
 
The 69 “sevens” prophecy of Daniel 9:24-25 was from 444 BC to AD 33. Even though this timeline was from Nisan to Nisan, it still contained 69 sevens or Shemitah years. In other words, there are 69 sevens (Sabbath years) within the 476-year timeline of Daniel’s prophecy. Tishri 1 is the start of the new year on the Jewish civic calendar, where the year count changes. For this 476-year timeframe, there are 173,847 days in a Jewish calendar (Nisan to Nisan or Tishri to Tishri), and there are 173,856 days in a proleptic Gregorian calendar (January to January)… only nine days difference. The end date for the 69 sevens prophecy of Daniel 9:25 occurred when Jesus was “cut off” or crucified on Passover, Nisan 14 (or April 2, AD 33 on the Julian calendar).
 
I believe the reason the last seven years will be for 2569 days instead of 2540 days is to keep the Jewish calendar in line with the Gregorian calendar. If we add 2569 days to our previous total of 173,847 days then you have a total of 176,416 days. Likewise, if you were to add 2557 days (7 years of 365/366 days) to the previous total of 173,856 days in the Gregorian calendar then you have a total of 176,413 days. This is only a difference of 3 days.
 
In my last article, regarding the Great Tribulation, I showed the timing of the 1260 days of Revelation 12:6 would be from a future Feast of Firstfruits to a future Day of Atonement. “Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.” I also demonstrated that the timespan from that same Firstfruits to Heshvan 10 would amount to 1290 days, thus fulfilling Daniel 12:11. “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.” Last, but not least, I showed how the timespan between that same Feast of Firstfruits and the Feast of Dedication, or Hanukkah, amounts to 1335 days. “Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.”  
 
With these same requirements in mind, I did some research to determine how many other upcoming Jewish “heptad years” there are that have these qualifying characteristics. I researched 20 different heptads starting with 2023-2030, and continuing with 2024-2031, 2025-2032, 2026-2033, …2042-2049. I was looking for an exact match of 1260, 1290, and 1335 to occur between the two specified Jewish dates/Feast days. First I reckoned the duration (number of days) of the seven-year heptads by using the calculated Metonic cycle Jewish calendar (360calendar.com Calendar Converter). For these calculations, I used the civic new year of Tishri 1 to Tishri 1, as that is the day the new year count changes. Tishri 1 is also the first of the month and occurs on a new moon. I could have just as well used a Nisan 1 to Nisan 1 or even Heshvan 10 to Heshvan 10 as they would have all had the same amount of days.
 
Then, I double-checked these dates with NASA’s Six Millennium Catalog of Phases of the Moon (AstroPixels - Six Millennium Catalog of Phases of the Moon). These dates aligned for the most part, with the calendar converter being off by only a day or two in various places, due to the way the Metonic cycle is configured so the Feasts of the Lord will not occur on certain days. Let’s look at a couple of examples regarding the duration of upcoming seven-year timespans.
 
For the seven years of 2023-2030: The Tishri 1 to Tishri 1 timespan is September 15, 2023, to September 28, 2030 (2570 days). NASA’s new moon of September to new moon of September timespan is September 15, 2023, to September 27, 2030 (2569 days).
 
For the seven years of 2024-2031: The Tishri 1 to Tishri 1 timing is October 2, 2024, to September 17, 2031 (2541 days). NASA’s record shows the new moon’s timespan from October 2, 2024, to September 16, 2031 (2540 days).
 
For the seven years of 2025-2031: The Tishri 1 to Tishri 1 timespan is September 22, 2025, to September 5, 2032 (2540 days). NASA’s record shows the new moon’s timespan from September 21, 2024, to September 4, 2032 (2540 days).
 
Out of twenty heptads, only nine didn’t have the same number of days (from comparing Tishri 1 and NASA’s new moons), and they only differed by one or two days at the most. Where there was a difference, I used NASA’s dates for my reckoning of 1260, 1290, and 1335 days. Out of these 20 possible upcoming heptads, there were only four that matched perfectly. Only one had 2540 days. The other three had 2569 days between the two dates. The 1260, 1290, and 1335 days are all figured from the Feast of Firstfruits which is “in the midst” of Daniel’s 70th Seven. The abomination of desolation by the Antichrist in the new Temple in Jerusalem will begin the Great Tribulation, otherwise known as Jacob’s Trouble.
 
POTENTIAL DATES FOR JACOB’S TROUBLE
 
2023 – 2030 (2569 days). 1260 days between Firstfruits (Nisan 19/April 25, 2027) and the Day of Atonement (Tishri 10/Oct. 6, 2030). 1290 days between Firstfruits and Heshvan 10 (Nov. 5, 2030). 1335 days between Firstfruits and the start of Hanukkah (Kislev     25/Dec. 20, 2030). In this hypothetical example, if Jesus was crucified in 30 AD, He will return to the earth 2000 years later in 2030.
 
2026 – 2033 (2569 days). 1260 days between Firstfruits (Nisan 19/April 21, 2030) and the Day of Atonement (Tishri 10/Oct. 2, 2033). 1290 days between Firstfruits and Heshvan 10 (Nov. 1, 2033). 1335 days between Firstfruits and the start of Hanukkah (Kislev 25/Dec. 16, 2033). In this example, if Jesus was crucified in 33 AD, He will return to the earth 2000 years later in 2033.
 
2033 – 2040 (2540 days). 1260 days between Firstfruits (Nisan 21/April 5, 2037) and the Day of Atonement (Tishri 10/Sept. 16, 2040). 1290 days between Firstfruits and Heshvan 10 (Oct. 16, 2040). 1335 days between Firstfruits and the start of Hanukkah (Kislev 25/Nov. 30, 2040).
 
2040 – 2047 (2569 days). 1260 days between Firstfruits (Nisan 21/April 17, 2044) and the Day of Atonement (Tishri 10/Sept. 29, 2047). 1290 days between Firstfruits and Heshvan 10 (Oct. 29, 2047). 1335 days between Firstfruits and the start of Hanukkah (Kislev 25/Dec. 13, 2047).
 
Many Bible teachers, including myself, believe Jesus’ 3.5-year ministry began in the fall of 29 AD and he was crucified in 33 AD. So, if you start with this year of 29 AD and use the 19-year Metonic cycle to reckon comparative 21st-century dates, and add 101 nineteen-year time periods (which equals 1919 years) you get 1948 AD (a very significant year for Israel). If you add another 19 years, you get 1967 AD (another very significant year for Israel). If you add 3 more nineteen-year time periods (57 years), you get 2024 AD. Could 2024 be another “very significant” year for Israel (and the world) as well?
 
In 29 AD, Jesus began to preach and prophesy. “From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). 1995 years later, in 2023-2024, Christians should have the same message of “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” For Christians, the kingdom of heaven will begin at the Rapture. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself” (Philippians 3:20-21).
 
Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” (Matthew 13:43).
 
Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Those in the know among former and active military cast wary eyes toward developments in the Oriental world. Every serious interview that comes forward these days brings the direst of thoughts from these experts who genuinely foresee war with China.
 
The dragon has awakened, and it is thirsty. This dragon is prophesied to be energized by another serpent, also called “the great red dragon,” “Satan,” and “the devil.” This energizing of China in the prophetic future by the ancient foe of God is found primarily in two places in the book of Revelation.
 
The first of the relevant passages is found in the 9th chapter:
 
And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. (Revelation 9:13–16)
 
The apostle John, through words given him by God, expanded upon the prophecy in chapter 16:
 
And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. (Revelation 16:12–14)
 
The king of the kings of the east–unless something very dramatic happens to change the configuration of things east of the Euphrates, has to be China. It could, by itself, have manned a 200-million soldier army even as far back as the 1970s. Today, with the other nations of Asia and their massive populations, the 200 million figure presents no problem at all so far as potential for fulfillment of the prophecy is concerned. And, certainly, China exerts hegemony over all of the other nations of its oriental sphere. Many within secular news media are beginning to recognize the same things those who watch Bible prophecy and current events have been recognizing for some time. China indeed looks like a major influence on factors that might bring nations into a conflict the size and scope of Armageddon.
 
Each day brings news of China intruding into waters near Taiwan and flying over Taiwan’s airspace. The ongoing close encounters of US and Chinese warships in the South China seas bring disaster ever closer. The Chinese are declaring all of that water territory to be theirs, despite that maritime law and territorial statutes clearly demark waters that are open to all maritime ship movements. The Chinese government is obviously deliberately provoking many of these dangerous confrontations. Any one of the encounters can bring about an accidental incident that could initiate open warfare between the two nuclear giants.
 
The present American administration, like in so many other areas of its responsibility, seems clueless as to how to rein in the behemoth of Asia.
 
There is little doubt in my thinking that China will at some point recapture Taiwan (formerly Formosa). This is because all of the world’s powers of the Orient east of the Euphrates are called “the kings of the east.”
 
China, because of its ravenous ambitions to conquer, needs ever-increasing energy to fuel its voracious military and commercial lusts. They really don’t care about the general populations of their dictatorship. But they are, experts observe, intent on making deals with nations with oil resources through fiscal alternatives to the American petroleum dollar. Like the globalists of the World Economic Forum and all other New World Order sorts, China’s chief concentration these dangerous days is on bringing down the power and authority the United States maintains over economic matters such as world oil resources.
 
When Antichrist comes to power, the Bible foretells:
 
But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him; and he shall go forth with great fury to destroy and utterly to sweep away many. (Daniel 11:44)
 
Increasingly, then, it looks like oil will bring all the nations into the valley of Jezreel for the showdown at Armageddon. It is as if sin, itself, which invaded humankind because of disobedience in the Garden of Eden, has to come to its full recompense at this future date of human destiny. The Fall caused all of the earth, particularly the area where the Garden of Eden was located, to begin a deadly degeneration for all plant and animal life. The second law of thermodynamics—entropy—dictates that all things continue to deteriorate. All physical matter is to turn to dust—or, apparently, to oil.
 
I don’t intend to get into controversy about what creates oil, but scientists believe the great oil deposits of the earth are where massive amounts of vegetable and animal matter have been buried, then compressed through eons to produce the fossil fuels we now burn in record amounts every year.
 
Now, the “dragon” of the Orient–China—is thirsty for its share of the black, incendiary liquid. And, its thirst is potentially beyond even that of the industrialized world of the West. There is a showdown coming, it looks like.
 
Sin has brought humankind to this point. It started in the region of Mesopotamia and the Euphrates River, where the Occidental world meets the Oriental. Prophecy says that demarcation line will be breached–supernaturally, I believe—with the drying-up of the Euphrates, so demon-possessed masses of military forces from the Orient can easily troop to the valley of Jehoshaphat for man’s final war before Christ’s triumphant return.

Yes, you read the headline correctly. Collectively, the three big banks that have collapsed in 2023 had more assets than all 25 banks that collapsed in 2008 did. Unfortunately, the banking collapse of 2023 is far from over.  We still have eight more months to go before this year is done, and many more banks are currently teetering on the brink of disaster. Executives at those banks are telling us not to worry, but of course executives at First Republic were issuing similar assurances just last week. Personally, I had heard that First Republic supposedly had enough reserves to keep going for months. But that was a lie, and now First Republic is toast. The following comes from the official statement that the FDIC issued when it took over the bank…
 
First Republic Bank, San Francisco, California, was closed today by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, which appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as receiver. To protect depositors, the FDIC is entering into a purchase and assumption agreement with JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association, Columbus, Ohio, to assume all of the deposits and substantially all of the assets of First Republic Bank.
 
JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association submitted a bid for all of First Republic Bank’s deposits. As part of the transaction, First Republic Bank’s 84 offices in eight states will reopen as branches of JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association, today during normal business hours. All depositors of First Republic Bank will become depositors of JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association, and will have full access to all of their deposits.
 
The government was not going to allow just anyone to snap up the assets of First Republic.
 
JPMorgan Chase was one of the institutions that was invited to make a bid, and they came out of this process as the big winners…
 
JPMorgan is getting about $92 billion in deposits in the deal, which includes the $30 billion that it and other large banks put into First Republic last month. The bank is taking on $173 billion in loans and $30 billion in securities as well.
 
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation agreed to absorb most of the losses on mortgages and commercial loans that JPMorgan is getting, and also provided it with a $50 billion credit line.
 
In addition to providing JPMorgan Chase with a 50 billion dollar credit line, the FDIC will also take a loss on this deal of approximately 13 billion dollars. So they are definitely one of the big losers in this deal…
 
The FDIC estimates that the cost to the Deposit Insurance Fund will be about $13 billion. This is an estimate and the final cost will be determined when the FDIC terminates the receivership.
 
Needless to say, the biggest losers of all are the shareholders of First Republic.
 
They got completely wiped out…
 
Stockholders got bailed in and wiped out. They’d already been mostly wiped out by Friday evening in one of the most spectacular stock plunges ever.
 
Holders of the unsecured subordinated bank notes got bailed in and wiped out just about entirely. This is a form of preferred stock. For example, the 4.625% bank notes, issued in 2017, traded at less than 2 cents on the dollar this morning, another spectacular plunge.
 
As I have always warned, you only make money in the stock market if you get out in time.
 
Shareholders of First Republic found that out the hard way.
 
In comments that he made after the deal was consummated, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon boldly declared that “this part of the crisis is over”…
 
“There are only so many banks that were offsides this way,” Dimon told analysts in a call shortly after the deal was announced.
 
“There may be another smaller one, but this pretty much resolves them all,” Dimon said. “This part of the crisis is over.”
 
And the U.S. Treasury is telling us that the U.S. banking system “remains sound and resilient”…
 
‘The banking system remains sound and resilient, and Americans should feel confident in the safety of their deposits and the ability of the banking system to fulfil its essential function of providing credit to businesses and families,’ a Treasury spokesperson said.
 
Does reading that make you feel better?
 
It shouldn’t.
 
They always offer such platitudes before things start getting really bad.
 
As I noted at the beginning of this article, the three banks that have collapsed so far this year were collectively bigger than all of the banks that collapsed in 2008 combined…
 
The three banks held a combined total of $532 billion in assets, which – according to the New York Times and when adjusted for inflation – is more than the $526 billion held by all the US banks that collapsed in 2008 at the peak of the financial crisis.
 
We are only one-third of the way through 2023.
 
And as Charlie Munger recently observed, many of our banks are absolutely packed with “bad loans” right now…
 
Charlie Munger believes there is trouble ahead for the U.S. commercial property market.
 
The 99-year-old investor told the Financial Times that U.S. banks are packed with “bad loans” that will be vulnerable as “bad times come” and property prices fall.
 
He is quite correct.
 
In particular, the collapse of commercial real estate prices threatens to create a massive tsunami of defaults…
 
Berkshire Hathaway, where Munger serves as vice chairman, has largely stayed on the fringe of the crisis despite its history of supporting American banks through times of turmoil. Munger, who is also Warren Buffett’s longtime investment partner, suggested that Berkshire’s restraint is partially due to risks that could emerge from banks’ numerous commercial property loans.
 
“A lot of real estate isn’t so good anymore,” Munger said. “We have a lot of troubled office buildings, a lot of troubled shopping centers, a lot of troubled other properties. There’s a lot of agony out there.”
 
As I keep telling my readers, we really are on the verge of the largest commercial real estate crash in all of U.S. history.
 
And as mountains of commercial real estate loans go bad, a lot more banks will start to go under.
 
The “too big to fail” banks will scoop up those that they like, while others are simply liquidated and go out of existence.
 
Ultimately, I believe that we are going to see a wave of consolidation in the banking industry like we never have before.
 
We are still only in the very early chapters of this crisis. Much worse is yet to come.
 
It is going to take a while for all the dominoes to fall, but each time another one tumbles over it will be a sign that the clock is ticking and that time is running out for the U.S. financial system.

When transgenderism began to go mainstream, many conservative commentators began to ask reasonable questions. If a man could become a woman and a woman could become a man simply by saying so -- by self-identifying as what they felt they were or what they would like to be -- then how could this not apply more broadly?
 
Could someone, for example, decide to identify as black even if they were white? Could they be "trans-species" and announce that they were actually something other than human? How far would society have to go in universally affirming the weird self-actualization exercise of the deluded and trendy?
 
These questions were dismissed as stupid and -- worse! -- disrespectful to the legitimate struggles and lived experiences of transgender people. Despite those who pointed out that if the biological boundaries of sex could be traversed at will there was no reason to assume that any other category would hold once the question of who we are was a question of how we feel, the elites embraced the idea that the Binary Was Bad.
 
Occasional disconcerting examples of how these premises could be applied in other situations -- like the case of Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who identified as black for years -- were dismissed as crackpot oddities.
 
But that, as they say, was then, and this is now. The premises of gender ideology having been adopted, it is slowly but surely becoming more common for people to identify as different races, as animals, aliens, or made-up creatures. And now the "transabled" movement is beginning to attract attention.
 
This movement is made up of people who feel themselves to be disabled but are in fact physically healthy. Many of them wish to have a limb removed or to be otherwise mutilated so that their appearance and ability will match how they "feel"; we already see a medical community which has embraced the practice of cutting off penises and surgically removing healthy breasts for the gender dysphoric so it will have trouble finding any compelling grounds to refuse this new push.
 
One recent viral example of this is an interview on Good Morning Norway with a robust 53-year-old Norwegian male named Jørund Viktoria Alme, who now identifies as a disabled woman because, he told the interviewer, he has always wished he was born a woman who was paralyzed from the waist down.
 
Almes, who works as a senior credit analyst in Oslo, first announced that he was transabled in 2020, and has received predictably sympathetic coverage from the mainstream media while being excoriated on social media. He has occasionally given interviews alongside his wife Agnes, who hasn't detailed how she feels about her husband's category switch presumably morphing her into a lesbian.
 
Almes' story really is the sort of thing that, if pitched to a Hollywood producer, would probably be rejected as too far-fetched. He is perfectly healthy, but is in a wheelchair "almost all of the time." His identification, he says, is a combination of his gender dysphoria (leading him to claim he is a woman) and Body Integrity Disorder, which leads him to see himself as disabled.
 
Disinterested observers will note that he is neither a woman nor is he disabled. Almes' own description of his condition concedes as much: "It is a cognitive dissonance: in the same way that I experience being a woman in a man's body, I experience that I should have been paralyzed from the waist down. This is not a desire to be a burden on society. It is about the wheelchair being an aid for me to function in everyday life, both privately and at work."
 
Understandably, people who have actual disabilities have been less than pleased by Almes and his media interviews, with a number of actual women with actual disabilities noting that he is a "person with functional legs who chooses to sit in a wheelchair" and that his charade was a perpetual insult to the disabled community.
 
The TV station that hosted the interview attempted to defend themselves by saying that Alme (who they obediently referred to by female pronouns) had a "deep feeling that certain body parts or body functions feel foreign," but that their search for "independent professionals to explain what BID is" had "so far been unsuccessful."
 
Now, Agnes accepts her husband's new identity, although she is clearly uncomfortable with it. Many women facing similar situations haven't been able to do that -- there has been a surge in the publication of the memoirs of "trans widows" recently, as self-actualization journeys carry people away from their spouses and families.
 
Plenty of people are responding to this story by claiming that those drawing attention to it are merely highlighting weird cases in order to smear the transgender movement as a whole. The truth is that Alme is being interviewed by mainstream media outlets who are utterly accepting of all of his claims, and deleting social media responses by respondents who are not.
 
In even more extreme cases, transabled people take matters into their own hands and mutilate themselves.
 
For example, a North Carolina woman named Jewel Shuping blinded herself with drain cleaner at the age of 21.
 
Born perfectly healthy, Shuping said she had always wanted to lose her eyesight.
 
"It hurt, let me tell you. My eyes were screaming and I had some drain cleaner going down my cheek burning my skin," Shuping told People Magazine. "All I could think was, 'I am going blind, it is going to be okay.'"
 
Once you buy the idea that a man can become a woman, you've accepted that identity no longer needs to correspond with biological reality. A healthy man identifying as a woman paralyzed from the waist down is just a start.
 
Most would probably agree that it would be insanity for a doctor to inflict paralysis on a healthy individual. But one might also think the same thing about removing genitalia from a healthy male or performing a mastectomy on a healthy young female.
 
Jane Orient, an internal medicine doctor from Tucson, Ariz., weighed in on the phenomenon.
 
"In my opinion, both transgender and transabled persons suffer from a delusional disorder," Orient said.
 
Orient -- who is also executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons -- cited the Hippocratic Oath. This binding principle says doctors should do no harm.
 
"Mutilating the body is an objective harm even if it makes the patient subjectively feel better," she said. "The disability is lifelong and imposes burdens on others. And neither patients nor physicians can duck responsibility for that."

Recent news that the IRS was using part of its new influx of $80 Billion given to it by a Democratic-controlled Congress at the request of the Biden Administration to arm IRS agents should send a chill down every American’s back. IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel confirmed at an April 27 Congressional hearing that his agency was hiring 1,200 extra armed agents to investigate “criminal” acts of fraud and tax evasion. This is alarming because the IRS could very well view any evasion or perceived evasion of taxes as a crime. This is an agency that has “administrative” authority to freeze your bank accounts and seize your property. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg of a vast arming of federal agencies.
 
In October 2017, Forbes documented that the government had spent some $1.48 billion arming 67 non-military federal agencies from 2006-2014, the bulk of it done during the Obama Administration. Among those unelected, and some may say “unconstitutional” agencies, were the Department of Energy, General Services Administration, Bureau of Reclamation, the EPA, Railroad Retirement Board, Social Security Administration, Department of Education, Department of Interior, National Parks Service, US Geological Survey, and the Department of Agriculture. This is in addition to the DEA, Treasury Department, FBI, and others with at least some law enforcement duties. The Forbes article concluded “After grabbing legal power, federal bureaucrats are amassing firepower. It’s time to scale back the federal arsenal.”
 
A Rasmussen poll of April 15, 2014 found only 16% percent of likely voters believed the federal government has the consent of the governed, while 54% considered the federal government a threat to liberty rather than a protector of it. Majorities across Republican, Democrat and unaffiliated voters believed that government “has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interests.” By the hundreds of Executive Orders taking away Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms, the militarization of nearly every non-elected, Constitutionally questionable government agency from the IRS to BLM to even the Postal Service, the spying on American citizens, the refusal to enforce immigration, and voter rights laws, the Democratic-controlled government has been dropping drops of tyranny into the crucible of freedom.
 
The lyrics of a 1966 song by Buffalo Springfield “For What It’s Worth” warned: There’s somethin’ happenin’ here, But what it is ain’t exactly clear. There’s a man with a gun over there. A-tellin’ me I got to beware. I think it’s time we stop Children, what’s that sound? Everybody look what’s going down.” Over the decades politicians of a certain ilk have been slowly arming agencies that have no business having weapons. And you can bet they are convincing their employees that they are doing a good thing toward enforcing the law. Absolute power. Agree or face the consequences. Increasingly, your free speech and religious freedom is being whittled like a helpless sapling. It’s getting to a point where the choice will be clear as it was to Peter and the Apostles in Acts 5:29, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” That is our true liberty.

Billy Graham said, “Salvation is free, but discipleship costs everything we have.” That makes sense because some people don’t give their lives to Christ for fear of what others might think.
 
In Luke 9 we find the story of a man whom Jesus called to follow Him. But instead of following Jesus, the man said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father” (verse 59 NLT).
 
It’s important for us to understand that the man was using a common figure of speech that meant “I can’t do it right now. Let me wait until my parents have died and are buried, and then when it’s more convenient, I’ll follow You.”
 
He was making excuses, and people do the same thing today. They don’t want to follow Jesus because they don’t want to jeopardize a relationship, or they’re afraid that it might cause tension in the family.
 
That’s right. It will.
 
Jesus said, “Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other! From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of me, and two against—or two in favor and three against” (Luke 12:51–52 NLT).
 
However, this is division that can ultimately bring unity. It’s friction that can ultimately bring peace.
 
Let’s say, for example, that someone becomes a Christian and their family resents it. In fact, their family makes fun of them. But then as the believer makes a stand, one family member comes to Christ. Then two more become Christians. And then one day, an entire family that was full of nonbelievers is now a Christian family that is leaving a godly legacy to the next generation.
 
Are you willing to say, “Lord, I want to love You more than anyone or anything else”? That’s a good place to begin.
