The Essenes were a mystic Jewish sect living during the Second Temple period that flourished from the 2nd century BC to the 1st century AD. In 167 BC, the Jews, led by the Maccabee family, revolted against the Seleucid dynasty (Greeks that controlled Syria and Palestine) that now controlled Israel. After this time, the Hasmonean family (descendants of the ancestor of the Maccabees) who led the revolt, combined the office of the king with that of the high priest at the Temple in Jerusalem. This was strictly forbidden in the law of Moses. Also, the Maccabees neither descended from the kings of Judah nor from the lineage of Zadok.
 
THE HISTORY OF THE ESSENES
 
The three religious sects of Judaism, Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes developed during the time of the Greek occupation of Judea and Jerusalem. All agreed on the basics of the law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets, but they disagreed on many interpretations of Scripture and certain rules and regulations. The Essenes were among the more oppositional to the current Hasmonean rule as well as the current operation of the Temple. They eventually lost power and influence within the Temple’s political governance and moved out. Some remained in Jerusalem but others settled elsewhere. 
 
Wikipedia writes, “The Jewish historian Josephus records that Essenes existed in large numbers; thousands lived throughout Roman Judaea. They were fewer in number than the Pharisees and Sadducees (the other two major sects at the time). The Essenes lived in various cities, but congregated in communal life dedicated to voluntary poverty, daily immersion, and asceticism; their priestly class practiced celibacy. Most scholars claim they seceded from the Zadokite priests.
 
The Essenes have gained fame in modern times as a result of the discovery of an extensive group of religious documents known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, which are commonly believed to be the Essenes' library. These documents preserve multiple copies of parts of the Hebrew Bible untouched from possibly as early as 300 BC until their discovery in 1946.
 
Some modern scholars and archeologists have argued that Essenes inhabited the settlement at Qumran, a plateau in the Judean Desert along the Dead Sea, citing Pliny the Elder in support and giving credence that the Dead Sea Scrolls are the product of the Essenes. This theory, though not yet conclusively proven, has come to dominate the scholarly discussion and public perception of the Essenes.” For more information, see Essenes - Wikipedia.
 
World History Encyclopedia writes, “Most of the members at Qumran spent their time both copying the books of the Jewish Scriptures as well as writing commentaries on the Prophets and apocryphal books. The Dead Sea Scrolls are the collected writings discovered in the caves near Qumran in 1946 by an Arab shepherd boy who took several of the manuscripts to a black-market antiquities dealer in Bethlehem. As the fragments and scrolls came on the market, they were distributed to an international team of scholars for translation and preservation. They include 225 biblical texts, copies of older apocalyptic texts, their own apocalyptic views, manuals, commentaries, hymns, prayers, horoscopes, and curses.
 
Before the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest manuscripts of the Hebrew Scriptures were the Masoretic texts of the 10th century CE. We now have manuscripts that are a thousand years older, and they confirm the careful textual transmission of this material over time. THE ESSENES’ CALENDAR
 
This article isn’t about the Essenes or the Dead Sea Scrolls, but it was necessary to give some background information in order to write about the Essene’s calendar. As I said before, the Essenes were not happy with the way the Temple was being operated and so they developed a calendar (solar) that they believed was more efficient than their original lunisolar calendar. They believed this fixed calendar would help the Temple run more smoothly by a precise rotating of the priests during Feast days.
 
This calendar is based on an ideal calendar of twelve 30-day months thought to have existed in ancient Mesopotamia to which were added four cardinal days at the equinoxes (spring, fall) and solstices (summer, winter), making a total of 364 days. Each season would have three months of 30, 30, and 31 days with the cardinal day being the extra day at the end of the season for a total of 91 days. A 364-day calendar year divides into 52 weeks exactly (7 x 52 = 364) or 4 seasons x 91 days = 364 days.
 
Each season starts on the 4th day of the week (Wednesday). Every Feast of the Lord is on the same day of the week in the same month. Passover is always on a Tuesday, Nisan 14. The week of Unleavened Bread occurs from Wednesday Nisan 15 to Tuesday Nisan 21. Firstfruits is on Sunday, Nisan 26. Firstfruits initiates the “counting of the Omer” for 50 days until Pentecost. The 50th day, Pentecost, occurs on Sunday, Sivan 15. The summer solstice occurs the day after Sivan 30, the day before Tammuz 1.
 
The day after Elul 30 is the calculated fall equinox. The next day is Wednesday, Tishri 1, which is Trumpets. On Friday, Tishri 10 is the Day of Atonement. Wednesday, Tishri 15 through Tuesday, Tishri 21 is the Feast of Tabernacles. The next day, Wednesday, Tishri 22, is the day for reading and meditating on the Law of God. The winter solstice is included after Kislev 3 on a Tuesday. The last day of the month is Monday, Adar 30. The cycle then repeats. Wednesday, Nisan 1, or New Year’s Day, is the following day.
 
If you don’t count the cardinal days as one of the 30 days of the month, then this calendar could be called a 360-day calendar. Still, you have to count them in the weekly cycles (all four are figured as Tuesdays) and, therefore, the yearly calendar; so it is actually a 364-day calendar. This calendar was primarily used by the Essenes (but not the ruling group of Pharisees and Sadducees) as an ideal calendar for keeping the Feasts of the Lord on the same day of the week and month every year and for rotating the priests in the Holy Temple.
 
During the time of David, the priests were divided into 24 groups. Each group would work approximately two weeks per year. With 24 groups and 52 evenly divided weeks (if the Essenes calendar had been used), the service would rotate around the calendar ideally. John the Baptist’s father, Zachariah, was included in these priestly groups.
 
With only 364 days, the calendar would be very noticeably different from the actual seasons after several years, but there is nothing to indicate what was done about this problem. Scholars have made various suggestions. One is that nothing was done, and the calendar was allowed to change concerning the seasons. This would mean the Feasts of the Lord would not occur in their proper seasons. Another suggestion is that changes were made irregularly, only when the seasonal anomaly was too significant to be ignored.
 
The writings often discuss the moon, but the Essenes calendar was not based on the movement of the moon (observed) any more than indications of the moon’s phases on a modern Western calendar indicate that it is a lunar calendar. A recent analysis of one of the last scrolls remaining to be deciphered has revealed that the sect used the word tekufah to identify each of the four special days marking the transitions between the seasons.
 
Otherwise, the observance of the moon did not appear to influence the monthly calendar of the Essenes in direct contrast to what the Tanakh has stipulated. “Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, At the full moon, on our solemn feast day” (Psalm 81:3). We know from the ecclesiastical Jewish calendar that the 1st of every month occurred during a new moon and the 15th of every month occurred during the full moon. Passover and Tabernacles would always occur during a full moon. Trumpets would occur during the new moon. Each month would begin with a new moon.
 
We know the first four Feasts of the Lord were fulfilled prophetically by Lord Jesus. This means God would not have allowed these Feasts of the Lord to occur on any day other than their appointed day (days of the week and month). For example, we know Jesus died on Passover, Nisan 14 on a Thursday (IMHO). See Solving the Three Day Three Night Mystery – Grace thru faith.
 
If we are to believe the Essene calendar, Jesus would have died on a Tuesday (Nisan 14), which is not biblically correct. We know Jesus rose from the grave three days later on Firstfruits, Nisan 17, and not on Nisan 26 as the Essene calendar would have it. Firstfruits occurs on the first day after the Sabbath that follows Passover (or the first day of Unleavened Bread), not the second one. If you get the date of Firstfruits wrong, then you will get the date of Pentecost (50 days later) wrong as well.
 
The 364-day calendar looks good on paper and may be good for rotating the priests but is not biblically sound. The Jewish lunisolar calendar is the actual calendar used by Moses, the judges, and the priests and kings of Israel, not some mysterious 360-364 day calendar observed for several centuries by a small mystic religious sect in Israel.
 
One writer that hypes the Dead Sea Scrolls calendar says, “The mysterious 364-day solar calendar was used by the ancients from the time of Creation to about 170 BC. In the second century BC, it was replaced with a lunar calendar by corrupt Jewish priests. Today we know this corrupt lunar calendar as the modern Jewish calendar.” This is pure nonsense. The Jewish lunisolar calendar has been used by the ancient Hebrews since at least the time of Moses (and probably even before). “And God said, Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years” (NIV - Genesis 1:14).
 
Most ancient civilizations, such as the Babylonians, Assyrians, Greeks, and even the Chinese used the same lunar calendar (approximately 354 days) with 12 months per year. Some used an intercalary extra month periodically to bring the lunar calendar into alignment with the solar calendar and others (such as the Arabs) didn’t.
 
The only change that was made to the Hebrew calendar is found in Exodus 12:1, where the first month of the year would now be in the spring whereas before it was in the fall. “Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.” What had been in ancient times the seventh month, would now be the first month, and vice versa. The first day of the first month would be determined by the sighting of the new (crescent) moon of spring.
 
THE TIMING OF THE SEVEN FEASTS OF THE LORD
 
There are seven Feasts of the Lord – not nine or ten, but seven. Let’s look at the changes that the Essenes wanted to make to the Feasts of the Lord in Leviticus 23. Verse 5 says “On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord’s Passover.” Notice the verse doesn’t say “on Tuesday, the fourteenth day of the first month.” If God wanted Nisan 14 to be on a Tuesday every year, He would have said so. That means it can come on any day of the week.
 
The same can be said of the dates of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, from Nisan 15-21. The days of the week for these dates aren’t stipulated in Scripture. That means they can come on different days of the week in different years. There is an ongoing debate, which started centuries ago, on when the Feast of Firstfruits actually begins. This is significant as the day/date of Firstfruits will determine when Shavuot begins.
 
The Sadducees who controlled the Temple administration prior to 70 AD believed the “sabbath” of Leviticus 23:11 & 15 referred to the weekly Sabbath (Saturday) after the first day of Unleavened Bread. Karaite Jews and many Christian scholars also agree with the Sadducees in this regard. This author is in agreement with this interpretation, as no date is given in Scripture for this “sabbath.” The only Feasts of the Lord that aren’t given dates in Scripture are Firstfruits and Shavuot. I wonder why that is? However, with this interpretation, they both would occur on a Sunday.
 
After the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD and the Sadducees were no longer in control, historical records were updated to include the Pharisees’ counting method, which is now included in the Talmud. They believed the “sabbath” mentioned in Leviticus 23:11 was the first day of Unleavened Bread (Passover to the Jews), Nisan 15 when no work was to be done. It was considered a “special Sabbath” or a “high holy day.” The Pharisees evolved into the Rabbinic Jews of modern times. So, according to Rabbinic Jews, the day after this special “sabbath” day is Nisan 16. This is their date for the Feast of Firstfruits (the beginning of the barley harvest) and is when the counting of the 50 days begins.
 
The Essenes had an even different view of dating Firstfruits. They believed it should be on the Sunday following the seventh day of Unleavened Bread (21st of Nisan, which was on a Tuesday). So, the next Sunday (the last Sunday of Nisan) would be the 26th of Nisan. This is their date for the Feast of Firstfruits every year.
 
Which calendar interpretation best describes the typology of the Passover Lamb in Exodus 1-13 and the Feast of Firstfruits (Leviticus 23:9-14) to Jesus’ death as the Passover Lamb of God and his subsequent resurrection during Holy Week? Let’s look at the Sadducees’ Scriptural interpretation first. Jesus presented himself as king of the Jews on Palm Sunday, Nisan 10. This is the same date when the Israelites were to select a lamb for the Passover ritual. The religious ruling elites inspected Jesus’ words, actions, and doctrines looking for defects for three days (11th, 12th, 13th) and then He was slaughtered on the Passover, Nisan 14.
 
Jesus was in the grave for three days and three nights. He was resurrected on Sunday, Nisan 17 fulfilling the Feast of Firstfruits. “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20). Jesus was resurrected on the Feast of Firstfruits the same day the High Priest was waving the barley sheaf before the Lord. Later that day many Holy people from Israel’s past were seen in the city of Jerusalem, also having risen from their tombs. (Matt. 27:53) This was the Lord’s wave offering, a sample of His harvest of souls.
 
The only calendar interpretation that fits the typology of Holy Week is the Sadducees, whereas the Sabbath mentioned in Leviticus 23:11 and 23:15 is the weekly Sabbath that follows Passover. This is the Sabbath that is within the Feast of Unleavened Bread. As you can tell by Scripture, the Feast of Firstfruits is a day-specific (always comes on Sunday) feast and not a date-specific feast. Ironically, the Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection of the dead.
 
According to the Pharisees’ calendar interpretation, the Feast of Firstfruits would have occurred two days after the crucifixion of Jesus on Nisan 16. If Firstfruits represents Jesus’ resurrection, then this interpretation wouldn’t have fulfilled the prophecy of being in the grave for three days and three nights. The Pharisees’ believed in a resurrection of the dead, just not in Jesus’ resurrection.
 
The same can be said of the Essenes’ calendar. Their yearly date for the Feast of Firstfruits is always on Nisan 26, which would be 12 days from Jesus’ crucifixion on Nisan 14. If the Jews had been following this calendar there is no way that the Feast of Firstfruits symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus as the firstfruits of those who have “fallen asleep.”
 
The Feast of Firstfruits is no longer observed by the Jews. Passover and Unleavened Bread are simply known as Passover. Passover Eve (or Preparation Day in the New Testament) comes on Nisan 14, and the seven days of Passover are from Nisan 15-21.
 
Barley is the first crop to rise out of the earth in the land of Israel. The next crop to rise out of the earth in Israel is wheat. Leviticus 23:15-21 describes the third Feast of the Lord known as the Feast of Weeks (or Shavuot to the Jews ) or the Feast of the Harvest. This feast of the Lord comes 50 days from the Feast of Firstfruits. There are seven weekly Sabbaths included within these 50 days.
 
Instead of a sheaf of wheat being waved before the Lord, two loaves of wheat bread baked with leaven are waved. This is the only Feast of the Lord where leaven, which represents sin, is used for making bread. Many believe the two loaves represent the Church at the Rapture, which includes both Jew and Greek sinners. “But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming” (1 Corinthians 15:23). Christ is the firstfruits of the early barley crop, and the “dead in Christ” are the firstfruits of the later wheat crop.
 
Regarding the Feast of Weeks known as Shavuot to the Jews and Pentecost to the Greeks, if you get the date for the Feast of Firstfruits wrong you will get the date for Shavuot wrong as well. And once again, we have three different interpretations for reckoning it.
 
The Bible mentions the Feast of Weeks and how to reckon it in Leviticus 23:15-16. There is no specific date given for it. The Essenes believed it would always come on Sunday, Sivan 15. The Pharisees believed it could come on any day of the week, and occurred on Sivan 6 or 7. The Sadducees (and this author) believe it comes on a Sunday and can come on different dates depending on the date of the Feast of Firstfruits.
 
The three fall Feasts of the Lord, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles are all given dates in Leviticus 23, but are not assigned specific days of the week. However, the Essenes did assign them specific days of the week. Trumpets would occur on Wednesday, Tishri 1 every year. The Day of Atonement would occur on Friday, Tishri 10 every year. Tabernacles would occur from Wednesday, Tishri 15 to Wednesday, Tishri 22 every year.
 
The new and full moons were recorded periodically in the Essene calendar but played no part in determining the days of the month. The Essenes calendar was their own invention and not God’s original calendar, as some have erroneously claimed. If it was, we would have read about it in our Bibles. God wouldn’t have hidden it from us or allowed the Jews to use a different calendar, especially during the time of the first advent.
 
“In the Apostolic Era, various splinter groups such as the Essenes determined their own calendars independently of the Sanhedrin, but in so doing, they severed themselves from the broader community of Israel and made themselves irrelevant. Yeshua and the apostles, however, followed the calendar established by the Jewish authorities in Jerusalem and thereby celebrated the festivals along with the rest of the nation. If that was not the case, the New Testament would have made note of the deviation.” {1}

So much for lazy summers. There is so much to keep up with these days that it's like drinking out of the proverbial fire hydrant.
 
The U.S. economy reminds me of what it was like when I would ski too fast, back in the day when I dared, and all the sudden I would find myself out of control on one ski, poles in the air, knowing I was going to crash...it was just a matter of time.
 
Today we live in unprecedented times. Nothing makes sense. We have corrupt government; banks teetering on the edge of collapse; the government treasury being looted; borders wide open; the administration in power arresting those who oppose them; the administration in power doing everything possible to start a war with Russia; people dying suddenly all the time but no one asking why; government threatening to take our kids for not going along with woke perversion that is clearly defined in scripture... the entire country is seemingly held together by a thread. And like my poor skiing habits of yesteryear, seems like it's just a matter of time before the crash.
 
Yet I'm optimistic that either God will somehow allow a great turnaround or that the Rapture is right at the door. And quite frankly, the Rapture seems more likely than an improbable turnaround. Just saying.
 
But what this really means is we have incredible opportunities to witness that all of these things were specifically predicted thousands of years ago proving the accuracy of the Bible. This is no time to be bashful.
 
Due to the United Nations 7-year proclamation, the article this week adds some insight to the 7oth Week of the 70 Weeks of Daniel.
 
Is The Tribulation At The Door?
 
And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering:… Dan. 9:27a
 
The 70 Weeks of Daniel Bible prophecy, Daniel 9:24-27, is the most important prophecy in the Bible regarding the last days before and after the Rapture.
 
If someone doesn’t correctly understand its prophetic meaning/predictions, their whole prophetic outlook could be affected. There is one part of that Daniel 9:24-27 prophecy that directly concerns us today. So to get started, let’s reword Dan. 9:27a in plain English:
 
And the New World Leader will strengthen an existing covenant/agreement with many for a specific period of 7 years. After 3 1/2 years this covenant/agreement/treaty will be broken and Jewish sacrifices on Mt. Moriah will be stopped. [BP translation]
 
I’m not a Hebrew scholar but that’s the best I can do using my Interlinear Bible. The key points are:
 
“he” - referring to the New World Leader
 
“strengthening an existing agreement” referring to something already in place.
 
“with many” - probably including Israel.
 
“7 years” - which is referring to the future 7-year Tribulation/God’s wrath on the earth.
 
So the verse pointedly says that the Tribulation begins with the signing of this 7-year covenant/treaty/agreement orchestrated by the New World Leader just after the Rapture.
 
From a dispensationalist viewpoint, the signing begins post-Rapture. We won’t be here.
 
To best understand the context of this verse, we need to first back up to see what will have just happened.
 
1) Rapture

The Rapture shocks the world, but does not surprise grounded Believers.
 
2) Russia Invades Israel
 
With God’s Restraining Holy Spirit removed at the Rapture, the long anticipated Ezekiel 38/39 Russian/Iranian invasion of Israel begins using nuclear weapons.
 
3) USA Destroyed
 
Russia (probably coordinating with China) also launches nuclear missiles at the USA and demolishes her.
 
For this reason in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong. Rev. 18:8
 
…for in one hour such great wealth has been laid waste! Rev. 18:17
 
and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer(*); for your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery [Grk=pharmakia/drugs]. Rev. 18:23
 
( * - That mention of no more weddings is contrasted to the verse in Matthew 24 and Luke 18 saying that up until the Rapture there will be weddings and social events…and electricity, and an economy, etc…which is good news—so as we see the day approaching, we also see our Rapture “rescue” also approaching!)
 
The bottom line is that the USA is a non-player in end-time events post-Rapture. But she will hold together until the Rapture.
 
4) God Repels The Russian/Iranian Invasion
 
God does a protective miracle, on the scale of parting-of-the-Red-Sea, that the shows the world He is again actively protecting Israel.
 
I [God] will strike your bow from your left hand and dash down your arrows from your right hand. You will fall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; Ezek. 39:3-4
 
Don’t miss the fact God, not Israel, defeats this Russian invasion!
 
I will magnify Myself, sanctify Myself, and make Myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will know that I am the LORD. Ezek. 38:23
 
I will not let My holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. Ezek.39:7
 
With the USA in ashes, Israel is left standing alone in the world. And with nuclear weapons now out of the bag, she goes on offense taking out all her surrounding enemies one-by-one.
 
In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem. Zech. 12:6
 
The surrounding Muslim nations will be no match for Israel’s war machine, which is prophesied to be “an exceeding great army” when they are resurrected as a nation in the latter days in their land (1948).
 
So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. Ezek. 37:10
 
With the Muslim nations collectively screaming at the top of their lungs to “Make Israel stop annihilating us,” a peace will be brokered by the newly revealed New World Leader between Israel and ten nations—the ten nations/ten toes of Daniel 7. Five from the west leg, five from the east leg.
 
Because Israel is negotiating from a strength position, she'll be allowed to rebuild her Jewish Temple and go back to sacrifices on the Temple Mount on Mount Moriah.
 
When the covenant is signed, the last seven years, Tribulation/the Time of Jacob’s Trouble begins. I believe there will be about 50 days between the Rapture and the covenant signing.(5)
 
So now we’re hearing that the UN is proposing a 7-year deal (6)— but is it THE 7-year treaty of Daniel 9:27? The first thing to ask, is there currently in place a covenant or treaty to “strengthen?”

In brief summary, at this demon-driven conference there were 120 world leaders, over 22,000 delegates and some 4000 media representatives who met for two weeks. Sounds like enough to qualify as "many" to me. The result of their agreement was to reaffirm the Paris accords from 2015.
 
They also agreed to reduce fossil fuels and non-electric cars due to them thinking they’re the main driver of Climate Change. Apparently our government is all in using "Climate Change" to force people to submit to their policies.

In the Glasglow meeting they also demanded that private financial institutions and central banks move to realign trillions of dollars toward achieving global net zero emissions. In other words, they want to control all the monetary transactions. Interesting and we know where that's headed.
 
So coming up September 18, the day after the last trump of Rosh Hashanah, they want to meet and put teeth into this world agreement.
 
It certainly SOUNDS like all this could fit the Daniel 9:27 prophecy. And a lot of Bible prophecy teachers are saying this could be the long-awaited Daniel 9 prophetic fulfillment.
 
However, since the Daniel 9 prophecy is so key, so hugely important, I find it somewhat hard to believe the Lord would bury its fulfillment where only some people knew about it through Internet searches.
 
I would have expected God to do something like “parting of the Red Sea”…something huge that the world could see and hear about. Or like stopping the earth’s rotation.
 
But maybe I’m wrong. It’s possible this COULD be the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation in September. This could be proof that the Rapture is at the door. But I’m not buying in just yet.
 
God's 7-Day Warning?
 
I think the proof will come if God gives us a warning like He did Noah.
 
When Jesus said just before Rapture would be JUST LIKE the days of Noah, we can conclude that the world today would be just like in Noah’s day — blinded by sin and know not what is about to come upon them.
 
In Noah's day, the only people who knew what was coming on the earth were Noah and his family. They knew exactly what was happening. Especially when God told them it was time to load the Ark!
 
“For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth” Gen. 7:4
 
Don't miss this…God warned Noah that the flood was coming seven days in advance!
 
This is info that Noah would have shared with his family who, incidentally, were the only ones looking for a worldwide flood.
 
In Jesus' illustration, Noah represents the Church. So it's quite possible God will give us a 7-day warning too. No clue how.
 
But if on Sept. 10, one week before Rosh Hashanah’s last trumpet sound on Sept. 17, God gives His Believers a heads-up, something tremendously obvious confirming the Rapture is 7 days away, seven days later on Sunday morning I’ll be standing on the east side of the church building holding a blue Millions Missing? booklet!
 
If the Rapture does happen, those post-Rapture instructions for those left behind will be in the pile of clothes on the ground along with my dental implants and screws from my long-ago broken ankle.
 
But if nothing happens this Rosh Hashanah, a week or so later we’ll be cruising from Rome to the Holyland to see our Bible come alive… with time to relax while contemplating the coming year!

Have you noticed that we are being hit by an endless series of weather emergencies? Here in the middle of 2023, farms in the Midwest are being devastated by a seemingly endless drought, massive dust storms are happening as far north as Illinois, residents of Vermont just experienced the worst flooding that they have seen in nearly 100 years, and the Southwest is being baked by unprecedented heat. I realize that this is a very sensitive topic. A large portion of the population insists that what we are witnessing is “normal”, while another large portion of the population believes that we can fix the weather by changing our behavior. Unfortunately, both groups are wrong. What we are beginning to experience is the apocalyptic weather of the end times, and things are only going to get crazier during the months and years that are in front of us.
 
Right now, the horrifying heat wave that is frying the Southwest is making headlines all over the nation…
 
Across a wide swath of the U.S. from Texas to Nevada, a major heat wave that is threatening to break temperature records continued to bake parts of the South and Southwest on Wednesday, sending people scrambling for relief and adding to what has become a series of weather extremes that researchers say fit the pattern of a warming environment.
 
Temperatures well into the triple digits are expected this weekend from California to Texas to Florida, with parts of Nevada forecast to reach 116 degrees Fahrenheit and cities in Arizona expected to hit a staggering 118 F.
 
Temperatures this high are life-threatening, and it is likely that quite a few people will die from the heat in the days ahead.
 
In Phoenix, there is a possibility that the city could actually see the 120 degree mark for only the fourth time ever…
 
‘While the 120-degree mark is not a certainty for Phoenix, it is possible late this week and this upcoming weekend,’ AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski warned this week of forecast temperatures for the famously arid city, known as Arizona’s Valley of the Sun.
 
The city has seen 13 consecutive 110F-plus days – and now weather experts warn the city may soon challenge its all-time record of 18 days.
 
The all-time record high in Phoenix is 122 degrees.
 
There is a chance that record could get broken.
 
But even now, the heat is so intense that it is actually melting tar on the roofs of some homes…
 
‘How bad is the Phoenix heat wave? The tar is melting off the newish roof on our house,’ Astrid Galvan shared in a post.
 
On TikTok, one hilarious resident shared a video of himself frying an egg on a grill that was not plugged in but heated up by the sun.
 
‘Gotta love Az summers,’ the creator captioned the video.
 
That is hot!
 
Unfortunately, conditions are going to be like this for a while.
 
These oppressive temperatures are being caused by a “heat dome” that is “now set to persist through much of the month”…
 
A sprawling area of high pressure currently positioned directly over the Four Corners is responsible for the scorching temperatures, which are unusual even for the notoriously hot expanse.
 
Known as a ‘heat dome’ to meteorologists, the phenomenon is now set to persist through much of the month – scorching metros in Arizona, Nevada, and California in the process.
 
And of course this is happening in the context of a historic global heat wave.
 
In fact, we are being told that last month was the warmest June “since at least 1850”…
 
Last month was the warmest June globally since at least 1850, when record-keeping began, according to a new report by Berkeley Earth, a nonprofit research organization that focuses on climate data analysis. The report found that June 2023 broke the previous record, set last year, by a “large margin,” putting the planet on track for one of the warmest years on record — if not the warmest.
 
Meanwhile, ocean temperatures also continue to rise.
 
If you can believe it, some areas off the coast of Florida are actually experiencing “hot tub-like water temperatures”…
 
Buoys off the coast of Florida measured hot tub-like water temperatures near 97 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday in the shallow, heat-prone Florida Bay between the southern tip of Florida and the Keys. The more ecologically vital and expansive coral reefs are located east and south of the Florida Keys, but the buoy measurements indicate just how extreme the heat in Florida has been so unusually early in the summer.
 
Ocean temperatures around Florida usually get hotter as the summer progresses and don’t reach their peak until late August into September, Manzello said, meaning ocean temperatures could rise further.
 
If ocean temperatures stay this high, it will significantly intensify any major storms that come along later this year.
 
Perhaps this explains why Farmers Insurance has suddenly decided to completely pull out of the state of Florida…
 
Farmers Insurance will stop offering its policies in Florida, including home, auto and umbrella policies, in a change that will force thousands of people to change their insurance provider.
 
The company said in a statement that its decision to get out of Florida was a business decision necessary to manage its risk exposure in the hurricane-prone state. Farmers serves 100,000 customers in Florida but said there will be no impact to customers who use Farmers’ owned subsidiaries like Foremost Signature and Bristol West.
 
So why is all of this happening?
 
Well, whenever there is a lot of solar activity temperatures tend to rise, and right now sunspot activity has spiked to very alarming levels.
 
So we are being cooked from above, and we are also being cooked from beneath.
 
In a previous article, I discussed some of the very unusual things that are happening on our ocean floors. For example, scientists recently discovered “a sprawling field of hydrothermal vents” on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean that are releasing material “hot enough to melt lead”…
 
On March 12, a team of scientists gathered in the control room of the RV Falkor (too), an oceanographic research vessel operated by the Schmidt Ocean Institute. They watched the monitor of a camera-wielding underwater drone, or ROV, as it explored the deep sea 2,000 meters (6,600 feet) below the ship. When the screen showed a plume of black smoke, the scientists cheered.
 
The video showed a sprawling field of hydrothermal vents — fissures in the seabed where seawater mixes with magma — on the Puy des Folles Volcano on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Some of the vents, known as “black smokers,” had formed tall “chimneys” of iron sulfide deposits that gushed out dark, sulfurous plumes with temperatures up to about 340° Celsius (644° Fahrenheit), hot enough to melt lead.
 
During the months and years to come, our planet will get even more unstable, and that is because we really are living in the end times.
 
Sadly, most people don’t want to hear the truth.
 
Most people just assume that the politicians have everything under control.
 
But they don’t.
 
What is happening to us is outside of our control, and the “birth pains” that we are experiencing will only become more intense in the days ahead.

Picture, if you can, an army intended to defend a powerful nation. That army just lolls around, denying that there is an enemy. They actually deny the enemy exists. This denial results in lowered defenses and lack of training. As the army sleeps, the enemy, who is very real, slowly infiltrates the troops. The enemy whispers many lies and convinces the soldiers that they don’t need to train and that the guidelines for the conduct of soldiers are old fashioned and the rules need to be slackened in order for a happier, user-friendly group of soldiers. The soldiers begin to argue with the commander’s orders, they make changes to the battle plan, and they generally side with the enemy.
 
Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to today’s ekklesia! We have our battle plan, as well as a description of the enemy’s plan, but we ignore it. Scripture is very clear as to what our King requires. Men are commissioned to lead the battle, but they are now allowing soft-hearted women to lead the troops. This is not Biblical. In order not to upset the women, men compromise the battle plan. This apostasy allows the New Age to flourish within our troops. Every person, male or female (and there are only two choices), must prepare for their own spot in the army of God. We cannot close our eyes and live in denial. The battle is real, and the enemy troops are becoming braver. In order not to be called haters or to be seeker friendly, God’s troops remain silent, and the enemy becomes more brazen. Brothers and sisters, we must prepare for battle. We must listen to Christ our King, and be brave as we wage war against the powers of darkness.
 
 History is clear that if an army hides, the enemy grows braver. King Saul was a weak leader of Israel. He was double minded and not always in his right mind. Today we might say he had a mental disorder. Whatever his mental state, he didn’t honor God. The physical enemy of that time were the Philistines. The Philistines had a “champion” to fight for them. He was a very formidable opponent named Goliath. To look at him was a frightening sight. He stood “six cubits and a span”, which is over 9 feet tall. Not only was he taller than any man in Saul’s army, but he was heavy and strong. Saul’s troops hadn’t prepared for battle. They should have known the enemy and prepared to fight him, but they were weak and scared. Goliath had remarkable armor which helps to understand his giant proportions. “And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was 5 thousand shekels of brass. And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weight 6 hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.” 1 Samuel 17:5-7.
 
 
Some scholars estimate the battle gear that Goliath wore weighed around 200 pounds. Yes, he looked unbeatable. So, in the Valley of Elah, Goliath stood before Saul’s troops while those unprepared soldiers hid in fear of the enemy. Many pastors refuse to teach from the Old Testament. This is wrong. Many Christian soldiers could draw strength and encouragement from the Old Testament accounts of God’s people. This is one of those accounts. The enemy looked strong, Saul’s army was unprepared, but God had prepared His own champion to fight.
 
 The champion whom God had prepared, was a young man named David, the youngest son of Jesse. He was a shepherd, not a warrior, but he had prepared for battle in an unusual way. He had protected his flock from attack by a bear and a lion. We can assume that David didn’t waste his time lying in the green pastures or enjoying the still waters while his sheep grazed. He must have spent time in target practice with his slingshot preparing for battle. When the enemy appeared, he was ready. David didn’t look like a giant-killer, but he was prepared. When his youth and stature were questioned, he had an answer. “And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: and I went out after him and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing that he hath defied the armies of the living God.” 1 Samuel 17:34-36.
 
Where are the shepherds today? The enemy is plucking the lambs from among the flock, and instead of fighting for the life of the flock, the shepherds today allow the enemy to take the lambs. This is done by allowing doctrines of devils to enter into their sermons, and the Gospel is watered down until it is no longer the Gospel of Christ. “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;” 1 Timothy 4:1-2. Paul wrote these words to a young pastor. If the shepherds are lacking, the flock will die. Men of God, prepare for battle, because it is upon us.
 
 David won the battle with Goliath because he was prepared. David, armed himself only with his shepherd’s staff, his slingshot, and five smooth stones (he only needed one), and went to face Goliath. David’s youth and stature gave Goliath a false sense that the battle would be easy. “And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.” 1 Samuel 17:43.
 
False gods can never prevail against God Almighty. “Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not the sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S and he will give you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:45-47.
 
Goliath felt prideful and self-confident. On the other hand, David knew his strength was in the Lord. The Lord won the battle that day because one young man had prepared for battle. It only took one stone perfectly aimed at the Giant’s forehead to bring him down. Then David cut off his head. Victory was complete.
 
The same enemy that subtly whispered lies to Eve in the Garden of Eden, the same enemy who attempted to destroy the army of God, is working his evil today. He is becoming braver in his attacks and his mocking and twisting of God’s truth. There are many, many false doctrines entering our congregations today, and the shepherds don’t care. “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
 
This sounds as if the Apostle Paul was looking at today’s Christians and their “form of godliness”. It has no substance, no battle-worthiness, and is filled with false teaching. That word “perilous” is a very strong word. In Greek it is “chalepos” and is only used twice in the New Testament. The first use of chalepos is found in Matthew, and translated “fierce”. “And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.” Matthew 8:28. These days in which we live are exceedingly chalepos…perilous and fierce. There is a demonic evil pervading the world. The battle is real and it is demonic. The enemy is invading and Christians are asleep or hide in the hills. We listen to seeker friendly sermons filled with politically correct, seeker friendly words that don’t the soldiers for battle. That battle isn’t coming, it’s here. Christianity isn’t for the feint-hearted.
 
The war was won at the Cross, but Satan isn’t giving up. We each have a place in the final battle. Satan is in his death throes and wants to destroy as many souls as he can. The only way we can lose our part in the battle is to not prepare. Study Scripture. Most pastors don’t teach line upon line through Scripture. It seems as if it’s more important to get through the allotted hour rather than arm the soldiers for battle. That shouldn’t stop you from your own study. Prophecy is extremely important in being armed for battle. The Rapture will happen very, very soon, but do you know how to use this as a witnessing tool? Prophetic signs are happening quickly. The world leaders, and some false teachers within the church, are pushing for a one-world order. It’s happening, but we aren’t prepared for battle.
 
God has given us His word…both Old and New Testaments. The Apostle Paul talked a lot about spiritual warfare, but many pastors today erroneously think we shouldn’t talk about evil spirits and demons. The only way to be prepared for battle is to be aware of the enemy’s strategy. Jesus seemed to think demons were real, and I trust Him to know. Christians have God’s armor, not your own armor, but God’s armor. “Finally, my brethren be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:10-12.
 
The armor is there for you, but if you don’t know what it is, then you need to study Scripture. The things we wrestle against, or should wrestle against, are spirit beings who serve Satan. If you aren’t armed with God’s armor, you will hide in the hills like Saul’s soldiers and lose the battle. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13. This passage of Scripture follows after Paul’s warning of the destruction of family. Men are to love their wives as Christ loves His church, not mentally or physically abusing her (Ephesians 5:25), women are to submit to their own husbands as if submitting to Christ (Ephesians 5:22). Fathers aren’t to provoke their children (Ephesians 6:4), and children are to obey their parents in the Lord (Ephesians 6:1). Servants (employees) are to be obedient (Ephesians 6:5) and masters (employers) are to treat servants kindly (Ephesians 6:9). Satan is attacking God’s order of life, and the demons are getting more open in their attacks.
 
God’s armor will protect against the attacks of Satan. It won’t stop the attack from happening, but you will be protected. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesians 6:13-18. Learn to use God’s armor now, before the battle. Begin by accepting Christ for salvation. Not with lip-service, but with your whole heart.
 
 Prepare for battle now. Don’t wait until you see the enemy pointing his weapons at you. The war is all around you right now. If you don’t see the enemy, then maybe you are on the wrong side of the battle.

A censorship-by-proxy lawsuit brought by attorney generals in Louisiana and Missouri resulted in an injunction against a host of federal agencies and their staffs pressuring corporations to censor protected free speech. Judge Terry A. Doughty of the US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana in a July 4 ruling banned certain government agencies from “engaging in any communication of any kind with social-media companies urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner for removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech.” Within days, the Biden Administration filed for a stay, meaning the Biden government wants to continue censoring free speech.
 
Judge Doughty ruled that the government was prohibited from meeting with social-media companies for the purpose of urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech posted on social-media platforms; specifically flagging content or posts on social-media platforms and/or forwarding such to social-media companies urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner for removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech; and urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner social-media companies to change their guidelines for removing, deleting, suppressing, or reducing content containing protected free speech.
 
The government also was prohibited from partnering or collaborating with organizations to suppress protected free speech; threatening or coercing social media companies to remove or suppress protected free speech or even notifying them to Be On the Lookout for such actions. In filing its stay of the injunction, the Biden Administration expressed that the injunction will interfere with legitimate government conduct and working with social media companies on initiatives to prevent grave harm to the American people and our democratic processes. The attorney generals in LA and MO wasted no time in filling opposition to Biden’s argument for deliberately censoring Americans.
 
Their filing stated in part, “But the evidence in this case overwhelmingly shows that the way the Government supposedly “prevent[s] grave harm to the American people and our democratic processes” is to pressure and induce social-media platforms to censor disfavored viewpoints on COVID-19, elections, and other core political speech. The Government’s assertion of “grave harm,” therefore, boils down to the claim that it should be allowed to continue violating the First Amendment. In the end, their position is fundamentally defiant toward the Court’s judgment. It demonstrates that the Government will continue violating First Amendment rights by censoring core political speech on social media as soon as it can get away with it.” Let us ask as in Galatians 4:16, “Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?” On July 10, Doughty denied Biden’s request.

As Christians we can’t say, “I was really lucky today” or “I guess that was just dumb luck” or “Qué será, será, whatever will be, will be.”
 
For the child of God, there is no such thing as dumb luck. There is no qué será, será.
 
God has a plan—a design, a purpose, and a strategy—for the lives of His children. We may not see His plan, but God sees it. And He always has seen it.
 
Speaking through the prophet Isaiah, God said, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, . . . and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8 NLT).
 
God’s thoughts toward us are different from ours. They are perfect. They are never haphazard. God hates sin, but He loves us “with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3).
 
The next time the devil whispers in your ear that God’s designs for you are evil, remember the words of Jeremiah 29:11: “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’ ” (NLT).
 
We could translate the word “future” from this verse several ways, including “an expected end,” “things hoped for,” and “outcome.” God has a wonderful future in store for us.
 
Now, we may not know what God has in mind for us, but He knows. At the moment, our lives may not be going as we expected. They are not progressing according to our schedules. We might say, “God must have forgotten about me. He has abandoned me.”
 
No, God has a plan. We are works in progress. We are under construction. He isn’t finished yet. We only see the beginning, but God sees the end from the beginning. And one day it all will come into focus.
